  Porsche GB will celebrate 40 years of the 928 at this year’s NEC classic motor show. In 1977, Porsche launched an all new front-engined sports car. Originally designed as a replacement for the 911, the 928 was a grand tourer powered by a Porsche designed 4.5-litre V8 engine producing 240hp. A focus on lightweight construction saw the extensive use of aluminium for the body panels rather than traditional sheet steel. The 928 never did replace the 911 yet still secured its place in Porsche history as an outstanding car and the last of the traditional two-door, transaxle models.

  Race Retro to celebrate racing driver Damon Hill's career 25 Nov 2015 (News)
  Hill went on to became World Champion at the 1996 Japanese Grand Prix, memorably captured by an emotional Murray Walker who proclaimed: ‘I’ve got to stop because I have a lump in my throat.' Hill won eight Grand Prix on his way to the 1996 title and started all of the 16 races from the front row of the grid, completing a dominant year for Williams securing the Constructors' Championship some 105 points ahead of Ferrari. Williams Grand Prix Engineering was founded in 1977 by Sir Frank Williams and engineer Sir Patrick Head, the cars on show at Race Retro form part of Williams Heritage whose mission is to preserve, showcase, run and service cars from the teams past.

  The E-type’s current owner, said, ‘My dad loved cars and race days. It will be sad to see the car go but now it can be brought back to life and enjoyed, as it should be.’ The car remains complete with all parts of the engine, bodywork, interior and original features present, with the interior in surprisingly good condition with no obvious signs of wear, and an odometer reading of 43,285 miles.
