renault scenic knock 23 Aug 2004 (Forum)
My scenics developed a knock, I think is coming from the front end, it only occurs when I'm accelerating round a corner, it happens turning either left or right, driving in a straight line is no problem. I have just come back from France having covered 1800 miles, the noise was there as we get to France but has not got worse during that time, the car is 1998 model & has done just under 60'000 miles, any ideas please. -

Check your passports before heading for France 23 Jul 2009 (Forum)
If he manages to sort out his problem he will then drive straight to Plymouth where my sister in law and the kids are in their caravan which has been parked on a site there since yesterday. Yesterday, they drove from Cheshire with the van in tow to catch a ferry to France last night for their holiday. They were turned back at the port. Neither adult had noticed that the kid's passports have expired. The only passport office with an available appointment was Durham and then only for tomorrow AM. -
France/Italy or Scotland - Early March or May? 26 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Unsure of the latter - but need to start planning the March trip shortly Any advice on missing school holidays in March and May in France and on the best chance of finding hotel vacancies (on the day) abroad? Previously we have only headed south from Calais in late May or September. It`s around 500 miles to get up to north of Applecross from here - only a little less than Reims.. another day from there would be passing through the Alps.. -
Cars used by rental firms - UK, France, Germany 29 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Observations: 1) When I hire a car in France, using Europcar, and choosing the cheapest category, I always seem to get a Renault Clio. (When I use Budget, it is a lot more unpredictable.) 2) I recently hired a car at a UK airport - Europcar, cheapest category - and got a Peugeot 308 (an upgrade!). -
Speed camera on A75 - France 10 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Oncoming drivers had had a good view and gave adequate warning so everything had slowed down. Good journey back, 780 miles, and was I glad the bulk of the miles were in France! Back in the UK, he A2 was closed just outside Dover, and the subsequent delay meant that by the time I reached the M25 (23.00) you could not turn North without a tortuous diversion. The Blackwall tunnel was clear, but ended in a long jam somewhere in East London where an underpass was closed. -- pmh (was peter) -
Car hire in Spain - pricey? 22 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Is the recession being blamed? Anyone else also noticed price hikes? The best deal I can find is to fly into France instead of Spain and get a prepaid week for 155 quid. Spain always used to be cheaper than France??! -

Dordogne/Lot suggestions for hols 27 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Thinking of flying to Bordeaux or Tolouse and then hiring a car and travelling around the Dordogne or Lot valley areas of SW France (or both). It will be a four-week holiday starting 2nd week of July, mainly staying in hotels, or possibly a 'gite' if we get a recommendation on one. I have not been to this area of France before so would appreciate any suggestions of attractive towns to use as a base and any good routes to drive, avoiding major roads etc. -

Total mileage 2704, average 29.5 mpg (not bad for a Volvo S80 2.4 with a heavy foot) and not a murmur of mechanical difficulty. I love France, and also managed 125 bottles of vin rouge... Just waiting for the next trip! O -- Career: (n) Job, profession. (v) Downhill, rapidly, out of control. -

Passat CCn Passat CC - Passat CC headlamp units 17 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Living in France I would like to buy a CC in UK and ship it over here, problem is that the headlamp units have to be altered to comply in France. When I moved here some years ago I brought my 406 with me but had to buy new headlamp units to comply with French norms, at considerable expense. -
Any - Headlamps 15 Apr 2012 (Forum)
Are defelecters still valid and if so where do you place them. I have driven in France (and other euro countries) for the last 40 years (lately not using deflectors, but with driving common sense) and have never been questioned. Is this new legislation or just a confused journalist?
