VAT RELIEF FOR THE DISABLED 21 Jul 2001 (News)
A vehicle that is substantially and permanently adapted for use by a person who normally uses a wheelchair or stretcher will qualify if adapted - ·to allow the wheelchair/stretcher user to enter and travel in the vehicle while seated in the wheelchair or on the stretcher; or ·to allow the wheelchair/stretcher user to enter or leave the vehicle; or ·to enable a wheelchair/stretcher user to drive the vehicle; or ·to allow a wheelchair to be carried on or in the vehicle. The following are examples of different kinds of adaptations which may be made to enable a wheelchair or stretcher user to enter, drive or travel in a qualifying vehicle - ·a swivel seat; ·a hoist to lift a wheelchair into or onto the vehicle; ·a box for the wheelchair which is fitted to the top or the back of the vehicle; ·adaptations which enable a wheelchair user to drive the vehicle, such as a push/pull brake and accelerator, hand controls or other aids that operate the primary driving controls; ·infra-red control unit that operates the secondary controls. -
One to Watch: Mercedes-Benz S-class (W108) 22 Jan 2019 (News)
Widely considered to be one of the strongest engines ever made, the fuel-injected M116 3.5 V8 produced 200bhp and, driving through the mandatory four-speed auto 'box, it could propel the big saloon to 60mph in just 8.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 127mph. Smooth, silent and utterly reliable, it was the perfect engine for a car which made granite feel flimsy. -

The 1987 Ferrari 412 automatic is one of 61 supplied with right hand drive and had covered 73,864 miles. This car has covered only 1,000 miles since 2011 and underwent complete engine and body renovation in 2015 by Ferrari Specialist Keys Motorsport Silverstone Ltd. It comes with a full file of the restoration and a new MoT. -

450 veterans set for London to Brighton run 13 Oct 2017 (News)
Among the stars taking part are Pink Floyd drummer and car collector Nick Mason, who will be driving his 1901 Panhard et Levassor, one of almost 200 French-built cars on the run. Thierry Peugeot and Robert Panhard are two more notable participants – they are both direct descendants of the founders of the famous automotive companies that bear their respective names. -

1955 Dellow Mk II B in Historics 20th August Brooklands Auction 4 Aug 2016 (News)
A dream project if it comes cheap enough, this 1971 left hand drive Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible was imported from the USA in 2014, but has since remained unrestored. The canvas top seems to be fairly new and though a lot of tidying is required it is reported to be relatively rust free and the engine runs well. -

Be suspicious of any bangs or jerks as there have been reports of problems with Multitronic electronics causing bangs when drive or reverse are selected. Multitronics must have a transmission fluid change and this should have been done at 40,000 miles. -
Jaguar XK120 restoration project to go under the hammer 4 Jun 2015 (News)
Bought as a project from a Jaguar Spares Day in 2012, it is now part-restored to chassis level and running and driving, with chassis and suspension stove enamelled, new prop shaft and rebuilt gearbox. The project comes with body panels (not attached), and a re-trimmed interior trim. Expect it to fetch £24,000-£25,500. -
Citroen marks 80 years of the amazing Traction Avant 29 Apr 2014 (News)
And although it's currently not listed in our reviews section, it's a car that we willingly acknowledge helped shaped the modern car as we know it today - its low stance, front-wheel drive powertrain and aerodynamic styling all set a marker for luxury cars that Citroen managed to keep alive between the 1955 DS and the 2005 C6. The car was launched in April 1934, and although Citroën christened it the 7A, it would go on to become known as the Traction Avant, thanks to its highly unusual front-wheel drive set-up. -

Report: Peking to Paris, day 31 28 Jun 2013 (News)
The day ended in Gstaad and two very fine hotels, and our supporters, Bonhams, Britain’s leading auction-house, provided a champagne reception which turned into a noisy party prior to a lavish meal, it was steak-night in the Palace Hotel. Everyone was in high spirits and looking forward to the final drive to Paris. First of all there is the rest of Switzerland, with Franco Lupi and his friends in the Swiss Automobile club intent on making sure the pressure is maintained. Our next stop is the medieval town of Troyes in France… south of Paris. -

On a downhill slope get your speed low before you start the descent, and do not let it build up – it is much easier to keep it low than to try and slow down once things get slippery. -
