    We have a problem whereby if the car is left for a week or more without using it then the battery is flat when we go to use it again.  We've replaced the stereo (as we'd previously read it could be a problem with that) and also had a new battery and alternator fitted.  The mechanic couldn't find anything wrong.

  Good evening, I fitted a new battery and alternator to my son's Land Rover 90 a couple of weeks ago. All seemed fine, 12.6v with no ignition on, 14.4v with the engine running. Fine since then until this morning when it wouldn't start due to a low battery.

  i have now had a replacment alternator put in the car and battery light is still showing on dashboard.it seems to be when i turn engine on and cold outside the front and rear demisters come on for a couple of minutes then battery light comes on and front demister goes off and will not work.the only way i can stop this is when i turn engine on and turn off demisters right away and that seems to solve the problem.

  Hi, I have just bought a 2nd hand Micra (2  days ago) I went to use it this morning (for the 1st time) and can't unlock it - I am certain the battery is flat as the I discovered that the boot was not locked properly !  I can't see any way of manually sing the key to unlock the door, so I can't even get the battery recharged !  I hope someone can give me advice Please !

  Excuse me, if this seems an obvious fix, but i've not come across it before. My '98 Escort SI 1.8 has been off the road for a few months, the battery was dead, so i gave it a full charge. On putting the battery back on the car this morning, the hazards kept flashing and the horn sounding. How do you reset the alarm on the car? Once i got the car running, the horn did stop sounding after a few seconds, but the hazards continued flashing...

  You can touch with your fingers both terminals on a car battery - no shock When is a car battery dangerous? As there is the potential for 400 - 500 amps how come it does not shock when you touch both. My own explanation ios that the volts (12 - 14) is not high enough.

  Hello, Could somebody please advise me on a couple of problems I have with my omega.   So my battery ran flat after my wife left the charger on, not the first time it's ahppened and I usually pop the battery out, give it a quick charge and all is well until she does it again.     Just some extra info that may be irrelevan but when i use the electric windows they seem to be going a little slower than normal and finally if i park the car and then use the radio or cd player while the engine is off, even for just a minute or two, the engine will not start again next time as the battery will be flat?   Is this problem the battery or something else?   Cheers

  We bump started it (instantly fired up to the relief of the CAT no doubt) and off we went. It started fine the rest of the day but whilst out I bought a new battery at Halfords (£60). Fitted the new battery this evening and it started fine, but sounded no different turning over to yesterday. I am not convinced it was the battery? Wife now confesses that two weeks ago she used a pump plugged into the cig lighter to blow up our kids' paddling pool - and left the ignition on 'for a while'.

  I've recently bought this car and as i still havent managed to pass my test yet :-( the car is off the road alot unless i have someone to come out with me. The problem is that recently the battery went flat, i recharged the battery BUT eversince i refitted the battery i am unable to turn the alarm/immobiliser off the car, so whenever i A) get in the car the alarm goes off and B) if i try to turn the engine over the immobiliser kicks in and HEY PRESTO!

  The previous owner hadn't done any mileage in it for some months and was finding he needed to charge the battery every few weeks because it was running down. I guess this was due to the drain from the alarm system. Well, since we've had the car we've done less than 50 mils and much of that has been learning - stop/ start/stall/restart etc. and the battery is absolutely fine.
