  The 145 (Type 930a) was a boxy affair, while the 146 (Type 930b) was the same car from the front bumper as far as the B-pillars, but with a more rakish fastback body style. Of the two, it would be the five-door 146 that sold in the greater numbers - the 145's rather abrupt rear end was perhaps too challenging for many, depsite its bread van-like boxiness giving it more practicality than Alfa Romeo buyers were traditionally used to. Yet despite being different, its styling kind of worked in the way that only an Alfa Romeo can get away with.

  A 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series III Roadster that starred in the second ever episode of legendary BBC sitcom Only Fools & Horses sold for £115,875 at Silverstone Auctions’ Salon Prive sale. Another Jaguar convertible, a 1959 Jaguar XK150 3.4 S Drophead Coupe, sold for £189,000 - more than £40,000 over its lower estimate. Several highly desirable Porsches sold for strong prices. A 1988 Porsche 911 (930) Turbo, sold for £171,000 including premium, £60,000 over its lower estimate.

  Some facts about 1938 are that there were around 2.5 million vehicles on UK roads compared to 31 million today. And there were 7,500 road deaths, v/s 1,775 in 2014, which clearly shows how much safety has improved. CTF 921 was first registered in February 1938, to Lancaster Police.  When its duties were done, it had a more sedentary life in the ownership of a Canadian who took such a shine to the car that he shipped it across the Atlantic when he returned to his homeland.   A subsequent American owner treated the car to light restoration before the car returned to the UK and now graces the Historics sale on March 12 th . This 76-year old is resplendent in its black coachwork and red interior trim, and mechanically is said to be faultless.
