    i have oil sludge in the hoses leading from the emmisions control value through to the intercooler engine runs fine slight black smoke on acceleration fully serviced but high mileage any ideas of cause of sludge

     hi changed rocker cover (valve) gasket on my rover 416 sli, disconnected battery to do it and spark leads now won't start, just clicking noises immobiliser lights off so not that! help! thanks :)

    In the old days with a dynamo it didn't matter. Nowadays with an alternator I'm not so sure. Recently I removed the leads and the radio worked fine with no attention afterwards.

    Having fixed top core plugs to get rid of leak, I now have a misfire with engine management flashing as the engine is asked to accelerate. Plugs were replaced in January, leads and coil pack replaced this week, still got problem any thoughts.

    the rear wiper motor does not work unless i connect a lead form the earth connection on the motor direct to a chassis part which i know means i have a bad earth but how is the back door earthed to the main body.

    was reading a magazine while SWMBO was shopping and came across 'power tool racing' Basically it's hand power tools nailed into some sort of chassis and the course is 75m long 'cos that's their longest power lead! How about six chainsaws driving a go-kart or a leaf-blower powered dragster? What would you build?

    Recently the question was asked:- "Does anyone know how to change the polarity of a dynamo?" Apparantly, it seems, if you touch one of the leads to earth while the dynamo is running, the polarity is reversed. Allegedly. Does anyone has any ideas on this subject. I should point out that we are talking about 1930s - or thereabouts - cars.

    I have bought my son a 1.1 k reg fiesta it ran fine from the seller to home and then when it was started it will only run on full choke otherwise it dies.We have changed leads and spark plugs as well as taking carb apart to look for blockages but nothing makes any difference.can anyone help?

    The car (95 TD Escort) is fitted with an airbag. The manual says to disconnect the battery, cover the leads to stop the possibilty of them arcing. And thats it!!! Is this right or is there anything else to watch out for? I don't fancy the airbag going off in my face!!! Cheers Rob

    I have provided a + and - to the coil direct from battery, then turned the engine over using the starter. I am not getting a spark from the HT leads? Does the body of the coil need an earth? Is it a live or earth wire which goes into the distributor? Thanks Ste

    We are running an unconverted Volvo244GLT 2.3ltr.on Lead replacement petrol.We have been advised that the " Broquet Fuel Catalyst" could possibly resolve the problem of using LRP and improve performance /consumption.Does anyone have any experience of this catalyst and would it be worth installing/ using the "in Tank"version..as we are only doing 3000miles per annum??
