rear wiper motor - greasymits
the rear wiper motor does not work unless i connect a lead form the earth connection on the motor direct to a chassis part which i know means i have a bad earth but how is the back door earthed to the main body.

This is a common problem on most of the small hatchback Ford models.The earth circuit for the tailgate is taken thro the hingepins of the tailgate .After a few years the pins build up corrosion and the earth is lost.The best solution is to run an additional earth wire from one of the hinge bolts(usually a 10mm head size)to an earth point inside the boot area,following the line of the boot rubber seal.hth
