Vauxhall Meriva - Grinding noise when braking 23 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Hi all, I have a 2006 meriva, 1.7cdti and I noticed a terrible grinding noise when I brake. You can actually feel it on the brake pedal and it's like something is hanging from underneath and digging into the road (had a quick look and nothing is hanging down) Anyone have any ideas? The bearings were replaced October 2009 and new brakes were fitted approx 12-18 months ago Many thanks -
FIAT Bravo - Bleeding Brakes 16 Jul 2010 (Forum)
When I changed my caliper I used a brake hose clamp to minimise fluid lose but when I took the clamp off I noticed it had damaged the brake hose, so I bought a new hose meaning that I lost some fluid when changing it. Once I bleed the caliper around 5 times I noticed the brake pedal still spongey. -

Peugeot 405 Petrol (1988 - 1996) - 90 1.9 MI16x4 front brake pipes 19 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Hi all, I need to renew the corroded front brake pipes on my 405 for the MOT. It has the Bendix Integral ABS braking system from which I'm told is pretty specialist stuff and not to be tampered with, but how easy would it be for me to renew the brake pipes and can anyone tell me how to do it with this system? -
Toyota Avensis (1997 - 2002) - 01 1.8 brake noise - g-doying 13 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Here's a really odd one on my 51 reg Avensis. when I brake, more often than not, on releasing the brake there is a g-doing noise from the front end of the car. It sounds like a large spring being released. I've checked all the obvious stuff: broken coil spring, a good nosey over the brakes and can spot nothing out of place Ideas anyone? -
Audi A6 + RS6 (1997 - 2004) - 1999 1.9 A6TDI Avant Braking effort 15 Jul 2008 (Forum)
My mate has been complaining recently of the poor response from the brakes of his A6 Avant. It has new pads and disks all round and has had the brakes bled. I've driven it and it does seem to need considerable effort on the brake pedal, compared to my dads old A4. I'm wondering if this is the master cylinder or servo problems Any advice would be appreciated Mark -

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1999 1.8 - Brake grinding noise 13 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Ive got a problem with my 1999 Ford Focus 1.8, if I turn into a fairly hard corner and apply my brakes I get a grinding noise coming from the back. If I apply the brakes normally there is no noise at all, ive had a look at the brake pads and they seem to be ok but im no expert. The discs don?t seem to have any damage to them either, any ideas what this could be? -
2000 Vaux Vectra ?Brake pads 22 Nov 2006 (Forum)
The past 2 days I've noticed a strange smell coming from my front wheels post driving. The pads were changed in May of this year and although there is no problem with braking I'm thinking that the brakes are rubbing, although I'm not sure. Any suggestions? If this is the case how much should I be looking to pay? It takes an hour to drive to and fro work (although it's only 45 miles there) driving country roads with sharp coners and braking, makes me think that this is exacerbating the problems. -
SEAT recall Brake Vacuum Pipe 9 Mar 2005 (Forum)
FOR INFORMATION Daughter has just receieved a recall notice from SEAT in respect of her X Reg Ibiza (but the letter is also headed Cordoba/Vario, Inca, Leon/Toledo). Excerpt follows: "The brake vacuum pipes may leak due to a production fault. If the pipe leaks, the brake servo loses it's function. Without the servo assistance a lot more force must be used on the pedal. But this will not lead to a total failuire of the braking system." -
Vectra C brake noise 13 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Hi chaps, Just bought a Vectra C on a 04 plate, 14000 miles. The problem i have is that when braking at slow speeds i get a grating noise, almost like the pads are worn to the metal, no noise at higher braking speeds. The car was bought from a main dealer last saturday and had a service, i'm assuming the brakes were looked at. -
Skoda Octavia Brake Lights problem 2 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Hi all, Well this is a new one on me - this evening both brake lights ceased to work on my '01Y Octavia estate (not bulb failure), however the LED 3rd brake light above the back window still lights up fully when braking, but it remains dimly lit all the time the engine is on. -
Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - Brake Pads and Discs 28 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Hi everyone, I'm a long time lurker who doesn't post very often...but I have a concern that I hope you can help with. Today I had new brake pads and discs fitted to the front of my Corsa. The brakes had been grinding for a few miles, so both pads and discs were required. When i picked the car up, the mechanic warned me that the brake pedal might feel a little spongey, but should soon stiffen back up...no problem I thought.
