  • Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia (1955 - 1974) (Classics Reviews)
It was a logical extension of the Volkswagen range, which was going from strength to strenth throughout the 1950s - as Porsche had the more expensive end of the sports car market sewn-up with the 356, Volkswagen ensured that its Karmann-Ghia coupe and convertible would have more modest performance.
  • Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life (2008 - 2015) (Van Reviews)
Having a third row of seats means it has a clear advantage over competitors but it’s quite expensive for what it is. Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life 2008 Road Test
  • Volkswagen T5 Transporter Shuttle (2004 - 2010) (Reviews)
Commercial vehicle that seats up to nine. Decent spec and some good diesel engines.
  • Volkswagen Golf Mk4 R32 (2002 - 2004) (Classics Reviews)
To many Golf GTI fans, the fourth incarnation of Volkswagen's hot hatch was something of a disappointment. In fact, it took the German car maker five years to get it right - trying various power trains... including the quirky V5. But for many it wasn't good enough.
  • Volkswagen Polo Mk2 and G40 (1981 - 1995) (Classics Reviews)
Solid and practical, amazing G40 is brilliant to drive
  • Volkswagen Golf Mk1 Cabriolet (1979 - 1993) (Classics Reviews)
Because of the high costs of building a MkII version, the open-topped MkI continued through until 1993. Missing a generation of Golf cabriolet was a trick Volkswagen repeated with the Mk3 and Mk4.
  • Volkswagen Golf Mk1 GTI (1976 - 1983) (Classics Reviews)
Brilliant to drive, great performance, and utterly classless
  • Volkswagen Beetle 1302 and 1303 (1970 - 1975) (Classics Reviews)
Proper brakes for the first time, the best performance yet
  • Volkswagen Beetle 1200 and 1300 (1957 - 2003) (Classics Reviews)
Much improved performance and visibility, cheaper and better value than early cars. Excellent traction in snow and rough conditions.
  • Volkswagen Beetle (oval screen) (1953 - 1957) (Classics Reviews)
All the good aspects of the original Beetle, but you can see out of the back
  • Volkswagen Beetle (split screen) (1946 - 1953) (Classics Reviews)
In short, it was - and is - a legend. The story may have started when Adolf Hitler had the idea for the ‘Volkswagen’ (People’s Car), but the Beetle transcended this, and became a way of life for so many people. The Beetle was originally designed by Ferdinand Porsche designed it (who was 'influenced' by Tatra's Hans Ledwinka), for getting Germany mobile, but the war intervened, and that plan never got off the ground, although a few Beetles were built in 1938 and '39.
  • Volkswagen Karmann-Ghia Type 34 (1962 - 1969) (Classics Reviews)
It was more comprehensively equipped than the Type 14, and offered a sliding steel sunroof as an option (a Volkswagen first). It was also the fastest car built by the company at the time. However, it was never a big seller, as it was not exported to the USA. Even when a 65bhp 1584cc was installed, along with front disc brakes, it wasn't really sporting enough for the money.
  • Volkswagen 1500 and 1600 Type 3 (1961 - 1973) (Classics Reviews)
Volkswagen management was well aware that despite the Beetle's huge popularity, it was a situation that would not continue indefinitely. The obvious solution was to broaden the range, and offer faithful buyers a new, more upmarket product to trade up to when the time came.
  • Volkswagen Vanworx T6 Slipper Camper Van (2019 - 2025) (Van Reviews)
The interior quality is also excellent and provides a stylish and bespoke alternative to what's on offer from the Marco Polo and California. It's also worth noting that Vanworx is a fully Volkswagen accredited camper conversion specialist, which means they are one of the UK few van firms to have VCA Conformity of Production status and Whole Vehicle Type Approval.
  • Volkswagen Golf Mk2 GTI and GTI 16V (1983 - 1992) (Classics Reviews)
Volkswagen's update of the Giugiaro-penned original was an improvement over the 1974 original in every way, except perhaps in terms of styling. It was roomier, easier to service, more rust resistant and generally faster.

    Volkswagen Kombi farewell video
  • Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi/Camper (Split-screen) (1949 - 1968) (Classics Reviews)
Volkswagen started work on its first commercial vehicle, and launched it three years later. It was officially designated as the Type 2, but is also known as the T1. Either way, it was a shape which launched a million campers - and there were several different body variations to choose from.

  • Used Van Buying Guide: Volkswagen Transporter T5 2003-2015 (Article)
Inbetween there are 102PS, 114PS and 140PS steps up the ladder. Usually front-wheel drive, the T5 can have all-wheel drive via Volkswagen's 4Motion system, which unless you’re determined to reach the most inaccessible places, isn’t really necessary.
