Bids kicked off at just £12k, but then a bit of a battle ensued, and someone with an intimate knowledge of common rail diesel injection systems (or not) eventually bought it for £16k. The opposite extreme was a 2005/55 and therefore three-year-old Toyota Aygo 1.0 5-door with 26k miles. The car everyone now wants because it will be just £20 tax next year. That sold for a hefty £4,200, so had only lost about £1,000 a year. There will be a lot more de-fleeted 2005/55 reg cars over the next few weeks. -

In good condition and in steel grey it made £6,999. High mileage can really hammer a car’s value. The Renault Laguna may not have the best residuals of its class, but add 96k to the mileage in three years and you can pick up a silver 02/02 1.9 DCi Dynamique 5dr in good condition with a FSH for £4,450. -
04 MINI Cooper £7,800 at Auction Today 9 Aug 2006 (News)
But don’t start thinking MINIs are getting cheaper. This one has done 77,000 miles. There were some cars going for reasonable money today, though. Like a 2002/51 Mercedes C220 CDI for just £6,050. And a 2003/53 S320CDI (less than 3 years old) for £18,400. But the cheap 03 Leon Cupra was no bargain. -

Oldest car in the sale is a 1908 Stanley Steamer. Newest, a 2004 Ferrari Enzo. Theres's also some wonderful automobilia. Fabulous guns. And 58 classic guitars. The sale starts with Automobilia at 13.00, followed by sporting guns at 16.00, then guitars at 5.30 and finally cars from 19.00. -

It was a straightforward decision for the company to pursue this single model programme because management at Rover had become convinced that the Solihull design team could only handle the development of one major new car at a time. With the decision made that that the new car should be a larger car than the P6, work began on developing a replacement. King himself did not want a larger car, and the desire to make the new car larger came from above: ‘I had a lot to do with the machine that went into P8 before it ever happened, and I didn’t ever want it to be as big a car as P8. -

But some traders are not yet fully aware of the retrospective CO2 taxing of everything from March 2001 that will see the tax on some cars more than double to £440. -

The record remains held by Nick Heidfeld with a time of 41.6 seconds set in a McLaren MP4/13 in 1999. Since then, current F1 cars have been excluded and Justin Law holds the record for the fastest non F1 car of 44.19 seconds in a Jaguar XJR8/9 in 2008. -

05 Jazz Just £5,900 At Auction Today 13 Oct 2006 (News)
A sort of Sewage Outflow Green. And only the base model 1.2 with 22,000 miles. But the cheapest 18 month old Jazz I’ve ever seen. A 4k mile 05 reg Citroen Pluriel 1.4 with optional alloys was even cheaper at £5,750. A 70k mile 04 reg Golf TDI 105 SE at £8,050 was the cheapest Mk V diesel I’ve yet seen. -

Part-exchanges have not come through in any numbers yet and the market is starved of the right used cars. So for every car with a queue of buyers there was a bidding battle. Part-exchanges will be slower than usual coming through this year anyway because new cars aren’t getting to the dealers in time. -
