  • Every parking fine in country invalid? 7 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Tomorrow (5th July) London sees a further move in a bid to establish the legality of local authorities issuing penalty charge notices for parking but the consequences of any decision made tomorrow will be profound and could spark a constitutional crisis. A case comes before the High Court tomorrow, which could ultimately lead to every parking fine in the country being declared invalid or, alternatively, the Metric Martyrs' convictions being declared 'unsafe?.

  • not applicable - Private Parking Charge 22 Nov 2011 (Forum)
The car park is a free car park. Is this illegal as I did not think company's could isue fines unless backed by a court judgement? If it is legal, then surely as the car parking is free then they have not suffered a loss anyway and have nothing to sue me for?

  • Car parking near Stansted 24 Dec 2006 (Forum)
There is an organisation in Bishops Stortford near Stansted advertising car parking. The car key must be left with them. When I used it my car was returned damaged and filthy dirty. Their fine print attempts to exclude any liability. In future I will never use a car park where the key has to be left.

  • Private land parking ticket 14 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I know this has been covered before, but can't find the thread on the forum search. Just received a ticket from a private parking control company for parking on a retail park car park but left the car for half hour when I went elsewhere. I did also buy something from one of the stores. The 'fine' is £85. I know there was a legal way to avoid this but can't find the way to do it.

  • Speeding Fines for Profit 4 Sep 2014 (Forum)
So here it is folks, prooof that entrapment of motorists for the speeding fines isn't just confined to the UK. At least we're well ahead of the US for a change having shifted the profiteering onto parking. http://start.zonealarm.com/news/read/category/Top%20News/article/the_associated_press-waldo_suspends_2_police_chiefs_after_quota_claims-ap
  • Can private car parks trace your address 4 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I got a parking ticket at a private car park yesterday (euro car parks) and I have been told my a friend that they have no way of tracing your address because they are a private company rather than a local authority, so they can't access police/dvla records.

  • Avis France rental exorbitant charges 20 Jul 2016 (Forum)
Son hired a car in France for a couple of days while he went to one of the euro matches in Ma***illes. Came back and a few days later got a postal parking fine for 17 euros - annoying but fair do's. No indication of parking restrictions in the street concerned and tons of others parked there. Might be something to do with how he was parked (parallel).
  • Volkswagen Polo III - Polo cutting out when parking 25 Sep 2013 (Forum)
Bought a W reg VW polo approx 2 months ago and after a while, it cut out a couple of times when under load, i.e. hard steering. I had the alternator changed under warranty and all seemed fine until this morning, when i pulled in to a parking space and engine cut out again. Called RAC out and they ran diag tests on it and couldn't find anything wrong with it. The tested alternator and battery and said they were fine.

  • Shopping centre car park - legal advice 16 Aug 2009 (Forum)
We are convinced something must be ilegal here. Local roads round the car park are now dangerious to drive to because of all the ilegal parking because people refuse to use the car park. The car park uses ANPR and is this an ilegal use of it? You enter then enter your neg number at the machine then if you enter in peedo code:- If number plate = entered then don't fine If no number plate entered send out fines for all drivers.
  • Any - Forgot to Display Tax Disc 9 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I was in town and have gone past a camera that  I think checks for tax dodgers and I was also parked on street.  I read where traffic wardens can fine you the same as a parking fine and nothing has happened with that.  I was just wondering if anything could happen via the camera.  The new disc is safely in place now!
  • Legacy Electrics Susceptible to Interference 1 Dec 2008 (Forum)
We rolled the car about 1o metres away and it started fine. I replaced the battery and still the same problem. I've been parking there for over a year now with no problem. Any ideas on a solution? The car park is under a block of flats where everyone has a designated space so switching with someone else could be a real pain.

  • Mazda 6 - Parking sensor question (Mazda 6) 27 Jun 2011 (Forum)
It sounds like a loose connection but what is strange is that I can park up my car at night, and the sensors dont work.  Then when I go to my car in the morning they work fine...so the car has not moved all night. The reversing lights work fine wven when the parking sensors are not working, so there is no link there.
