Renault Megane,Toyota Avensis,Mazda 3- all saloons - Which 08 saloon? 6 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Engineer Andy has given me a lot of help with the Mazda 3 saloon and I would value any further feedback comparing the Renault Megane 1.6, Toyota Avensis 1.8 and Mazda 3 1.6 saloons, all 08 moidels, to guide me to which would be the one to go for. Comfort and quiet driving are important as is a good radio/cd speaker combination and ease of getting into and out of the car - my Megane seats are very low - probably due to age. I do not drive a lot but I do enjoy driving and being in the car - and so a relaxing driving experience is important to me. -
Volkswagen Jetta 1.4 TSI 122 SE - arnold clark/Motorpoint 24 Mar 2010 (Forum)
The interior is even more confusing, it has an "aSR-Off" button rather than "eSP-Off" like you would get on a UK model, and although it has all the Se refinements like the comfort seats, armrest, chrome window surrounds and RcD310, its missing the leather steering wheel. This makes it sound like an import to me, what do you think? If it was an import, then theres not going to be much warranty left. They struk me as a bit cheap as when ordering any VaG car with that TSI engine there are very long waiting times. -
Vauxhall Zafira 1.4 Sri turbo auto - How is a turbo with an auto box? 12 Oct 2024 (Forum)
Over the yaers, we have got used to Japanese cars with approx 2 litre engines, but to get one now you have to either 'buy old' or 'buy import'. Today we tried this 2016 Zafira. It was quite pleasant but I could hear the gearbox working away to make the best of the small engine's limited torque. I wonder if we would really get on with it? -
Family car for off road use 7 Aug 2024 (Forum)
My off-road use is limited but does involve going off road a few times a month - typically forest roads but sometimes slightly more arduous. Ground clearance is most important. Last year I did 22k miles between business and personal, business journeys are typically 3hrs or so each way. Business miles are reimbursed at cost. Budget is £10k. -
Honda Stream CRV - Hot brake discs 27 Apr 2024 (Forum)
The MOT is not due till the summer. Should I just keep on driving and not worry? Driving an import, I am rather anxious about anything failing suddenly, because there may be a delay getting spare parts. -
BMW 540Xi - Subscription charges for purchased features 8 Nov 2023 (Forum)
I took a new high spec BMW 540Xi 3 years ago and was not told about a subscription and now they have removed traffic data and want me to pay £89 p.a for this important thing packaged with a load of things I do not want - Alexa etc - I do not want an entertainment centre or sit in car fiddling with downloading on my Iphone but I want traffic data that I have on two older cars free of charge. -
Large SUV - Best mpg Large SUV 25 Apr 2023 (Forum)
We have 2x200 mile journeys each week and 3-4 times per year we make a near 600 mile round trip to visit my family. So the miles are high therefore mpg and running costs are important to us, as well as comfort. Does anyone have any suggestions? -
VW T Roc R - Help required in finding a T - Roc R please. 5 Nov 2022 (Forum)
Unfortunately a brand new car (unregistered etc) is just out of budget but a pre-registered car, ex-demo or garage car is a possibility. (Just missed one in Bradford). Colour is important, silver, red or ascot grey are fine, lapize blue or white is just about OK but a last resort, a real second choice. Don't want black or dark grey. Don't mind travelling for the right car. If you spot one at a dealer or any garage in your area then could you please let me know via the message system. -
White Fish 2 Jun 2022 (Forum)
It is difficult to imagine the complications that are going on within UK industries and the Imports that are coming into the UK all of which are adding to the climate change fiasco if it even exists. Everywhere you look there appears to be a problem of shortage of staff to meet vacancies in UK business from the hospitality industry to airports and airlines yet we still seem to have a large percentage of the working population on benefits -

Any - E10 petrol - from September 25 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Our household has two auto petrol Honda's, one from 2008 (FR-V 1.8) and one from 2003 (Element 2.4 import). Both have been faultless running on a mixture of E5 and V-Power (more V-Power than E5 generally). The Gov website advises that both cars will accept E10 without issue, which will be cheaper to buy, So why am I not interested in changing fuels on two cars which have been totally reliable for years on end. -
Mazda MX-5 - Old cars 12 Jan 2021 (Forum)
My mx5 is 23 years old and is my daily driver and starts fine every time. I imported it from Japan and when it arrived it was rust protected and the protection is regularly topped up. There is no rust anywhere. I my have cheated by getting it from Japan! this got me thinking what cars sold today could be on the road 23 years from now. -
Changing a flat tire: What to do & NOT to do? 12 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Changing a flat tire sounds simple: jack up the car, replace the tire with a spare tire, and then you can get back on the road again. But the importance of doing things properly for safety cannot be stressed enough, particularly when it involves a machine that weighs at least a ton (or thereabouts). Otherwise, the least of your concerns would be a simple flat tire. -

Car parking in rural areas 10 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Village high streets and even hamlets are often jam packed with residential vehicles, contractors, pavement parking. No yellow lines, no zebra crossings (especially at schools) and most important all- rarely a car park. Too expensive? why not make it fair and apply the same rules as in town centres?.There may well be wailing and gnashing of teeth but it's got to happen soon. Parking a car in a town centre is a headache as we all know but we reluctantly accept the rules of car park charges, metering, yellow lines, residents bays, time limits, no park zones -I could go on! -
Vanderhall Venice. - Something for the weekend Sir? 3 Sep 2019 (Forum)
It looks well thought out and put together, I would like to see one in the flesh though. There is an importer in Belgium if anyone is desperate to get hold of one. It looks good fun but there's only the problem of the price - about £30K. https://vanderhallusa.com/autocycle/ Jay Leno on the Vanderhall with the designer/builder Steve Hall- https://vanderhallusa.com/ -

Toyota CHR or Honda Hrv - SWMBO s Next car 14 Jun 2018 (Forum)
But we have a clear winner with the CHR which we tested in hybrid form with auto. Great looks which are so important to my partner and wonderful ride and seating , at least for the front occupants. Back to reality she wants to spend under 20k which pushes her towards the 1.2 T non hybrid manual. But does Toyotas reputation for unreliable autos continue with this model? -
BMW 1 Series - BMW 66 plate M140i - air con failure due to stone? 13 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Given the car's age, and that it is has not been long since the model was released, i am thinking of going down the not fit for purpose route as i cant understand how something so important can be so easily damaged by a stone. Has anyone had any experience of something similar?
