  Now I have got a job locally so I just travel 3 miles daily and around 10 miles on the weekends for grocery shopping. I read that lot of short trips is bad for the DPF so just want to check if it is a good idea to replace this with a Petrol car so that I don't need to worry about DPF in the future. In the worst case how much bill can I expect if the DPF develops any problem?

  Bought a new CX-3 1.5d SE Nav at the end of April 2016. Great car & spec etc........but the flashing DPF light keeps coming on. It happened the first time with less than 500 miles on the clock & continues to be a BIG problem. It happens on a long run on motorway journeys. Mazda  Oxford had it in for an afternoon to fix the problem.....then it happened again & again.....then  Mazda  Oxford had it again for 6 days to sort the problem out again.

• Ford Mondeo - DPF and oil warning 2.0 tdci 24 Sep 2011 (Forum)
  The web is full of experiences of this warning meaning that the oil needs changing asap because it has been contaminated as a result of failed dpf regenerations. This fits a little with my suspicions as the oil level seems to be a little high as though the car hasn't achieved the temperature to burn off during regeneration. I'd be grateful if anyone could shed any light on this, as at the moment I am not sure whether to wait to get it serviced in a couple of months time, or whether it needs an immediate oil and filter change and an ecu update.

  So I took it back to my mate who then refitted the pipe all was sounding good again He then said the casing of the turbo was hot which he the put a computer thing on it (sorry) Which came back with a dpf fault He tried to clear it but he says It won't go No management light on before or after diagnostic After reading all these forums I'm a bit paranoid to drive it as it might blow the turbo again he said to me but took it for a mot today passed emissions No problem Can anybody help me I really want to keep this car but not if it's eating turbos Thanks in advance

  Crinkly Dave got off the fence and bought one of these as I fell in love with the old 1.9 engine, and the new 1.6 was even quieter. Anyone know any links to explain how the DPF works, and any problems, as I know the Fiat version can have problems, as the "burning cycle" requires extra fuel, and if this does not turn off it has caused problems with sumps being filled with diesel.
