  I do have to top up the coolant about every 1000 -1500 miles. Also when the engine is up to operating temperature the needle on the gauge does not point exactly up but slightly to the left which again I have not known in the past.

  Aircon is left on all year with occasional hot and cold runs as recommended by HJ to avoid problems. Checking the itemised service bills however I see that its never had a coolant or brake fluid change - despite the annual services being done by a main dealer. I intend to arrange the coolant and fluid soon. I was wondering though if there was anything else worth having done or if its a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"(gearbox oil?

  Just been down to the dealer to get some parts: 1. Asked for Mitsubishi antifreeze concentrate (it needs a coolant change). Told that Mitsi don't sell their own coolant anymore. "What do you use then?". Reply - "Oh, just anything - the cheapest". "Erm....OK" (Scratches head and rolls eyes). 2. Ask for oil filter.

• Millers Oil analysis of oil sample 27 Nov 2024 (Forum)
  Wheeler Dealers bought a Jaguar S type V8 with 200k miles and sent an oil sample off to Millers to find if the engine was in good shape. High levels of sulphur was detected which indicated coolant loss, possibly down to head gasket failure. Seems a sensible option before rather than after buying a car ?

  Just trying to make sure I’m not being ripped off, but my coolant is leaking and Mercedes main dealer have phoned to say the thermostat needs replacing (unusual for a car only having done 45k miles they said) anyway the quote for a replacement including VAT and Labour is £700.

  Hi I'm having to drive around with my heater on full to stop the temperature light coming on, what is the most likely cause?. Coolant levels are fine had an air block a while ago but that is all sorted now. Don't dare take the car further than local areas. Thanks

  hi ive got a turbo deilsel mondeo and the glow plug light is flashing and in the morning on first start it smokes white smoke a lot and coughs and splutters what is wrong ive been told its the coolant temperature sensor

  still got problems with my 2.0 dti using alot of fuel . i put £10 of diesel in and got 43 miles on a run have serviced it and changed vacuum pipes , could it be coolant temp sensor and thermostat or injectors , temp gauge sits at 80 - 85

  Fabia 2001 1.4i cooling fans do not start, I changed the fans switch, and the coolant sensor is working fine, but the fans some times work property. Some times do not works for days. I need help, Thanks

  Do these sealants cause problems with pumps, seals etc sealants, or should I top up with a pint-a-day coolant/water until the new rad arrives.

  Any help out there please. 1999 Mondeo 1.9td. All of a sudden I can smell antifreeze in my car when I have the heater on. I am loosing some coolant, but I cannot see any leak, the carpets are bone dry under the heater. Would I do any good putting in Radweld

  I have a radiator leak that requires 100-200ml (min mark to max) of topping up about every 100 miles. The radiator system itself takes only 1.5l of coolant. Question: if I put half a can (125ml) of radweld into the radiator will that reduce the effectiveness of my antifreeze or am I worrying unecessarily? Thank you

  Hi all Turbo blown on way home from France. Car is 2011 and low milage. Been a recall Where ford want to add a coolant sensor among other things. Chances of getting them to Pay for the turbo!?!

  Hi, I had a leak in my R-reg Polo's radiator about 2 weeks ago and was recommended to try Bars Leaks. This worked well but this morning the coolant warning light came on again. Is Bars Leaks a stop gap only or does it mean the radiator is on it's way out? I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks Doug

  I have to carry-out some work on our Peugeot 306 which involves draining the coolant. As I have a full bottle of VW G12 antifreeze I was going to use this for the refill. Am I risking disaster? Or if I make sure I completely flush the old stuff out should I be okay? Or should I just use "normal" antifreeze?

  Has anyone had problems with laguna overheating, in particular releasing coolant through pressure cap. I have replaced the pressure cap, thermostat, radiator, the head gasket was done 60000 miles ago by renault and i am now losing my marbles with what this could be. Please help me before i completly lose the plot with this problem!!!

  This is more noticeable when driving around town. On the motorway the change is not as great. I have checked the coolant and I am not getting any oil in it and it does not seem to be losing any. It also never overheats. Any ideas. Thanks Crol
