  • Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - 06 1.3 cdti tank fuel pump 12 Feb 2009 (Forum)
My 1.3cdti won't start from cold, and misfires when coming out of overrun. When starting, the tank fuel pump runs for a fraction of a second and stops. I have to keep turning the ignition off and on without cranking the engine until the tank fuel pump runs continuously and then it will start. Anyone got any idea why?

  • Law relating to stopping not parking 18 Aug 2008 (Forum)
What is the law relating to stopping (engine running) a car on a one track public road to open and shut a farmers gate that crosses the public road? We had a handbrake failure on a car that was stationary, engine running, in neutral (automatic car), hand brake fully applied on a hill, while the driver shut the gate behind him.
  • Audi A4 B6 (2001 - 2005) - 2001 1.9 TDI making a quacking noise 22 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I think this part has a diafram inside and when the pipe is taken off, the noise stops. It doesn't seem to affect the running of the car and only seems to make the noise when the weather is warm and the car has been running for a while.
  • petrol consumption in brand new cars 17 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I'm a "green" driver with a very gentle right foot. I've never had a brand new car before. The Honda dealer says its because its still "running in". How many miles is the running in period, and should there be this much difference?
  • Ford Fiesta (2000 - 2002) - 2001 1.3 - Smoky Exhaust on Startup 2 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Hi, I've just bought my wife a 2001 (51 plate) Fiesta Flight with 60,000 miles on the clock, and with the 1.3 Endura engine. The car seems to run perfectly, but when she starts the car up, the exhaust is very smoky. It seems to go away, and as I said, the car seems to run perfectly. I'm not terribly technical with motors, but would this be a sign that all is not well?

  • CCTV camera footage - can you get access? 12 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Can you get the footage covering the damage being done to the car? Or is it only available to the police? The CCTV camera in question is run by the police or the local council and not from a private firm. What happens if the cctv camera is run from a private firm/business etc

  • Peugeot 2.2 HDI - Turbo Faliure. 24 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Can I have your opinions please, when the turbo bearings fail on one of these engines, what is the likelihood of the engine being totally destroyed, in a scale of 1 -10. 1 being unlikely and 10 being almost certain. Does any engine survive after running on its own oil? • Fiat Uno starting 20 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Would appreciate an opinion on this. 1994 Fiat Uno 1.1ieS Intermittent fault. Sometimes engine will not start after being run and then standing for a while. Leave for another ten minutes and it starts. Ocassionally revs drop when idling then it cuts out. Can run for several days and fault doesn't show. New petrol pump one year ago.

Would you run on gas all the time? How do you tell how much gas is left in the tank? The salesman wasn' that informative. thanks
  • Pimp my Landie 16 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Any ideas on how best to rejuvenate? I hope I can sell my VW Transporter soon as I cannot afford to run 2 vehicles, and the LR was too good to miss, having been run by my local school for the last 6 years and maintained regardless of cost.

An old boy who lives round the corner has a very tidy 1984 230E It is a pig to start from cold then runs rough until warm. When warm no probs starting and runs very well Don't ask why but he wants me to have a look. • Best way to remove an air lock? 2 Mar 2006 (Forum)
The Polo (see profile) has had an antifreeze change recently, but they didn't turn the heater control to 'hot' (thus opening the water tap to the heater matrix) and I think there is an air lock. This is because the car is running hot, but not over heating, at about 95C. If you turn the heater on, the temp will drop. After a run, the bottom of the radiator seems just to be warm.

  • Mondeo TDCi - stupid question 13 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Something I should probably already know the answer too but.... I seem to remember being told when I started driving that you should never let a diesel run out of fuel - and that it would need a mechanic to bleed it (air?) to restart. Was this true and is this still the case on modern cars such as the Mondy. I might be running the tank a bit lower than usual if the panic buying goes on all week - but don't fancy an AA call.
