A Grand Monday: Mercedes W124 22 Aug 2016 (News)
A cursory glance at the car’s online MoT history throws up nothing for concern – an advisory at its last test in May for some slight underbody corrosion, which obviously needs nipping in the bud, but no history of complicated structural repairs which can often blight this model later in life. At just under 110,000 miles, it’s barely run in for one of these engines, and the MoT history appears to back up the relatively low use it has seen in recent years. At this price, you could buy the car, sell the plate, and get most if not all of your money back. -

Government announces £500m “electric highways” trials 18 Aug 2015 (News)
The new road system would result in a 45 per cent reduction in CO2 and 30 per cent NOx emissions Although the report estimates that the new road system would result in a 45 per cent reduction in CO2 and 30 per cent NOx emissions, the consequent loss of VAT and fuel tax revenue would run into the millions - around £14 million per mile over a 20-year period. Another problem would be the development of universal in-car technology, which would have to be agreed by car manufacturers. -

Dash cams are particularly useful for professional drivers. Spending all day on the road means an increased chance of running into trouble – and it also means a greater reliance on a driving licence and cheap insurance, so proving innocence after a collision is important. But there are benefits for all drivers. -

Rover CCV 2 May 2014 (News)
Unlike the MG EX-E, which stormed Turin in 1985, the Rover CCV looked semi-production ready, and acted as a toe-in-the-water marketing exercise to preview the styling of the Rover 800 and sound out potential buyers of the coupe version. As it was, the CCV was an extremely handsome car and it adopted the running theme in all Austin Rover projects of the time – slim headlights that bracketed a slit-like grille. The interior was also mocked-up for his prototype and boasted solid state instrumentation and a dashboard mounted CD player (very novel back in 1986). -
Government to invest £9m in low-emission car infrastructure 31 Jan 2014 (News)
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said: “Electric cars are one of the most promising of our green industries and we want to secure the UK’s position as a global leader in both the production and adoption of these vehicles. "The extremely low running costs of electric cars help drivers save money and we are allocating more than £9 million to boost charge points across the country to help drivers to go green.” Besides lower fuel costs and VED exemption, ultra low emission vehicles are exempt from paying the daily central London congestion charge, which adds particular appeal for those who commute in and out of the capital. -

He was nine-seconds quickest here, posting a time of 4:20, like everyone else driving a circuit for the first-time, with a surprise in second place, the big Holden Ute of Peter St. -
Report: Peking to Paris, day 14 11 Jun 2013 (News)
Fellow Porsche 911 driver Phil Cuerel would say they can certainly be a lot worse…. he broke his crankshaft yesterday, causing major damage to the engine, but hopes somehow to get running again. All those who have played catch-up to get here have terrific adventures to tell. The rest-day has been far from restful for most, although it has been a useful day for some of the chores such as catching up on the laundry – a free service at this hotel – and cleaning out buckets full of dust from the rally car.
