Classic Car Tyres (Article)
As you might expect, the French tyre manufacturer worked closely with domestic car makers and the radial tyre (intially called the X-tyre) was developed for the front-wheel drive Citroen Traction Avant (Michelin had in fact bought Citroen in the 1930s). The radial was a run away success offering superior handling and fuel economy compared to the cross-ply. In 1975, Michelin had another big idea - the TRX ('Tension Repartie' or distributed tension), which proved itself in Formula One with with Renault and Prost and in the world rally championship on the Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 and Renault 5 Turbo. -
Cheap van insurance for builders, plumbers and electricians explained (Article)
See also: Our guide to Cheap Van Insurance for all van owners Citroen Dispatch - Insurance group 3E It might have been replaced with an all-new model, but the old Citroen Dispatch still has lots to offer builders who want cheap yet capable panel van. It doesn’t matter if you go for the least powerful 1.6-litre HDi 90PS model or the 125PS 2.0-litre HDi - both are available in the same rock-bottom insurance group. -

LPG: Where can I get my car converted to run on LPG? (FAQs)
There is now a standard conversion of the Perkins 180 diesel engine for buses and trucks, enabling them to run on LPG at the increased consumption rate of 25 to 50 per cent, but using a fuel which is less than half the price of diesel. New Citroen Xantias, Ford Mondeos, Vauxhall Vectras and Volvos with LPG conversions used to qualify for Powershift grants, but Citroen and Ford stopped offering converted cars and the EC has now stopped Powershift grants altogether. -
Van & Pick-up MoT Test Results and Advice (Article)
The German firm is also the highest ranked large volume van maker in the MoT Files, with 23,000 vehicles having their first test in 2017 – more than both Toyota and Isuzu combined. Citroen props up the table with a pass rate of almost 69 per cent. The French vanmaker has the lowest MoT score, while Renault is second worse with fewer than 72 per cent of vehicles passing. Nissan fares little better with some 72 per cent of vehicles passing. The Honest John Vans MoT Files is based on real world data from the DVSA - Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. -
How to value your classic car for insurance purposes (Article)
As well as classics, these types of policies are popular with owners of modified classics – whether that’s a Citroen Saxo with £25k worth of upgrades or a Ford Model A Hot Rod. How much does an agreed value policy cost? If you’ve spent five times the car’s value on a nut and bolt restoration, then you’re unlikely to get an agreed value for that figure. -
Cheap car insurance for modern classics (Article)
Your Mk1 Ford Mondeo doesn’t have an ST24 badge to qualify, and Audis like the 80 and 100 can be covered as well as hugely desirable Quattro. Even what non-petrolheads would probably refer to as ‘bangers’ like the Citroen Xantia or Alfa 145 are eligible for classic cover. How old does a car have to be to qualify for modern classic insurance? As we’ve seen, there’s no hard and fast rule about which cars qualify and which don’t. -

Used Van Buying Guide: Nissan NV200 2009-2019 16 Jun 2025 (News)
Packing masses of space into its 4.4m overall length, Nissan’s light panel van boasts a volume of 4.2 cubic metres - a full 900 litres more than a Citroen Berlingo. Indeed, to match the NV200’s volume you’ll need to look at long-wheelbase versions of its rivals. Even here it excels, with 200 litres more than a Renault Kangoo long-wheelbase and matching that of a long-wheelbase Vauxhall Combo. What it delivers in space it might lack a bit in style, but that is a compromise most buyers will be happy to make such is its usefulness. -
Review: Maxi-Cosi AxissFix (productReview)
We tested the AxissFix in a variety of cars from estates like the Audi A4 Avant to hatchbacks like the Citroen C4. In our pictures we're using a people carrier - the Ford Tourneo Courier. While the top tether can be fiddly, the Isofix arms click into place easily and have simple adjusters for extending them if needed, although the buttons do feel a little flimsy. -
MoT Test Results and MoT Advice (Article)
Not only is Renault's overall pass rate of just 52.6 per cent way below par, it lags behind even defunct brands such as Rover (54.2 per cent), Saab (59.5 per cent) and Chevrolet (60.2 per cent). Renault wasn't alone with fellow French brands Peugeot and Citroen also featuring near the bottom of the table. SsangYong is another manufacturer that disappoints. Despite coming top in the Honest John Satisfaction Index 2018 , it has a lowly MoT pass rate of 59.6 per cent from just 7500 vehicles tested. -
Used van buying guide: Peugeot Boxer 2006-2019 16 Jun 2025 (News)
Not as prevalent as the Fiat Ducato and Citroen Relay , the Boxer has all their advantages of loadspace and payload, with the bonus of being a little bit different in the large van marketplace. There’s no doubt against its newer rivals it feels a little crude at times, but those used examples out there all seem to have been well looked after and inexpensive, too. -
Peugeot Expert Used Guide 2007-2016 16 Jun 2025 (News)
The Peugeot Expert was revealed in 2006 before going on sale in the UK in February 2007. The Expert was offered with two wheelbases between 3000mm-3122mm for 4805mm-5135mm lengths overall, two roof heights from 1980mm-2290mm in panel and crew van guises. -

How to buy a new van (Article)
Not only is a diesel van more efficient than a petrol equivalent, but it also provides more torque for moving heavy loads and towing. Take the Citroen Berlingo , for example; it’s comfortable, spacious and returns a claimed 67mpg. What’s more, its 1.6 diesel engine is packed with low gear pull that makes the van perfect for shifting one-tonne payloads. -

How to buy a classic car (Article)
There are plenty of options here, ranging from a 1960s Volvo Amazon Estate right up to something like a Citroen BX Safari. HIRING A CAR: Where can I hire a car in the UK and abroad? (FAQs)
. The eco car or low or zero emission car choices include Smart ForTwo, a Fiat 500, Citroen C1 electric car and several other stylish city cars, as well as an electric scooter for those wanting to take to the saddle. All the boring paperwork is taken care of by Quadriga, including insurance, servicing, congestion charging, maintenance costs, MOT and registration renewals and parking permits - all you need to do is fill up with petrol or charge up the battery.
