  • Police car convoy 29 Jul 2017 (Forum)
Driving down the M1 today in South Yorkshire in torrential rain i was passed by a convoy of 10-12 unmarked police cars using lights and sirens at 90+ mph , rather them than me. Unusual combination of cars, Seat Leon, Golf, Audi A1 , Mini didnt see others as it was raining really heavy , i just wondered what was going on also never realised A1 and minis as unmarked traffic cars
  • VW ABS warning light. 10 Apr 2017 (Forum)
Issue whilst the ABS light was on was no traction control and improved MPG, but the increased MPG may have been due to over easy driving style and more engine braking, as I needed to continue using the car prior to being repaired.
  • Why less older cars. 22 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Just driving to work this morning and I overtook a Y reg 1983? Ford Escort that seemed completely fine. Just started to make me wonder why we see less older cars on the roads today bearing in mind that cars rust less, engines can do 100k plus miles and break down less frequently.
  • Peugeot 406 - Automatic transmission problem 14 Jan 2017 (Forum)
Hi all, I have a Peugeot 406 automatic gear. When I start driving there is no problem in the beginning but after about 20 meter, the car seems disengaging from the gear (something like pressing the clutch in manual cars). Rpm is increasing with the throttle but there is no move.
  • Autos L. Foot braking 22 Dec 2016 (Forum)
HJ was extoling L foot breaking in the Telegraph this weekend. I have been driving autos for years and have tried the L foot method but it dosen't feel safe to me. Some folks may find it ok but my R foot feels to have control while the L is like bowing a violin with a hammer. In an emergency the natural thing for me is to operate the brake with the R foot and surely instinct in that situation has to be right.
  • Advice for cold mornings 6 Dec 2016 (Forum)
I have just read an old debate about head gasket failure which advises gentle driving first thing on very cold mornings.  One of the many reasons for not thrashing a cold engine is the theoretical chance of microscopic movement at the interface of a too rapidly warmed cylinder head and a cold block.
  • Mazda 2 or Suzuki Swift? 3 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Will be buying new to replace a Toyota Vios. Generally will be driven in and around Bangkok on the commute with the occasional long drive across Thailand. Which of these two would you choose and why? Is one better built than the other? Will probably keep it a few years. It will have to be an auto. Thanks in advance!
  • Automatic City Car/Hatchback. Suggestions? 22 Nov 2016 (Forum)
I'm thinking about replacing my four year old Skoda Fabia. I'd like a city car/hatchback that is big enough for a child, is fun to drive and pretty reliable. I was contemplating a VW Golf but am put off by the price and reliability issues. Most people I speak to say I should go for a Japanese car. Any suggestions? BTW - as I live in a city I'd prefer automatic.
  • KIA Venga 2 1.4 petrol manual - 9 months on 6000 miles 30 Oct 2016 (Forum)
This might be the most boring and nicest update at the same time. Car absolutely faultless.  Bags of room, comfortable and excellent driving position. Fuel economy acceptable. doing house renovation has carried 8 foot fence posts, lots of bags of post mix. taking the old flooring to the recycling etc etc. One very satisfied customer!
  • Car to seat 5 adults for 150m commute 18 Sep 2016 (Forum)
I now share a lift with 4 other people we drive one day each. My bmw 4 series only has 4 seats so it looks like getting a different car. Can anyone reccommend a suitable car? The only one I like is the old shape Jag XJ tdvi possibly a 2007 shape but I'm not too sure what the reliability is like.
  • Mazda5 2010 - DPF light on after service 17 Jul 2016 (Forum)
Hello   My MPV has done about 39k miles and has just delivered to me from the service (official Mazda). As soon as I started the car, the DPF light was on and remained on during my entire drive home.    I will check with the garage tomorrow but can anybody advise why this is the case. I want to make sure that I understand this when I discuss it with Mazda.    Thank you.

  • Stansted Airport - Tempted to try meet and greet 28 Apr 2016 (Forum)
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-3563449/Airport-meet-greet-driver-sacked-ragging-customer-s-car-dropped-holiday.html   I wonder if the insurance company dat could show if the driver (since sacked) was speeding at any time. Surely he could then be prosecuted for driving without due care etc. I park my car myself and keep my keys...
  • Hyundai Santa Fe 2009 - Replacement engine at 88,000 miles 18 Apr 2016 (Forum)
We have a Hyundai Santa Fe – 2009, which has completed 88,000 miles.   Last week, the cylinder blew whilst driving on the motorway and we now need a new engine.   Two questions: Is this a known fault on this model?
  • Seat Ibiza - Difference between 1.4 ibiza sport and ibiza 1.2 10 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I was wondering if there was a slight difference between the body of the two? Would the bonnet and bumpers from the 1.2 fit my sport? I don’t want to drive 40 mins for it to be wrong. Thanks! :)
  • Mark 3 (2012) Ford Focus fuel economy concern? 24 Mar 2016 (Forum)
According to Ford, the 2012 Ford Focus 1.6 (105bhp) should do 35mpg around the houses (i.e. urban driving). However I am only getting 27 or 28mpg! Even if I do one longer journey per week (40miles) I only get 32mpg. Is this normal and do you know anyone with this model who has the same experience? Thanks.
