  • 205 GTi on unleaded? 31 May 2006 (Forum)
Hi there can anyone tell me if I can run a 1990 Peugeot 205 1.9GTi (pre-cat model) on unleaded fuel without any adjustments or loss of performance. I have been told that normal 95RON unleaded would be ok but local peugeot dealer said I could not.
  • Peugeot 406 Cooling Fan Problem ! 24 Apr 2006 (Forum)
During the past couple of days the cooling fans have been remaining on for a few minutes after the ignition has been turned off and, sometimes while the engine is running, they are both turning at full speed. The temperature gauge reading is normal (between 70-80) and the engine is not overheating. Could this be a problem with the fan switch or something else ?
  • Omega misfire 30 Mar 2006 (Forum)
The MV6 is playing up. 1998, approx 125k miles. After about an hour of running, it starts to misfire. The engine light doesn't come on, or even flicker. Some of you will remember that I had the crankshaft sensor repalced last spring as it was cutting out when hot. This seems to be another heat related problem.
  • Rover 25 central locking fault 27 Mar 2006 (Forum)

  • Safe driving ads on radio 24 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Has anyone heard the new safe driving ads running on Virgin radio? I'm a bit tired of hearing heads smash into each other in the seatbelts ad because I wear my seatbelt and don't drink drive, and the "Don't drive tired" one has a man talking in the most sleep inducing way he can, which is probably a tiny bit irresponsible if someone is tired!
  • £3k car to do all... 15 Mar 2006 (Forum)
You've got a regular commute of an hour motorway, forty-five minutes country roads, and half hour through town so not just handling but ride is important too. It's cheap-to-run, and fits for four/five people with a decent sized boot. You need the basic luxuries, a/c, CD, elec wins etc... What 3 cars would you choose for you shortlist?
  • vw corrado 2lt 16v 1 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I was driving to work today when my car died, there was a little fuel left but not much, i went to the local petrol station to get some more but the car would not start even with more fuel, the timing belt is intact, i cannot think of anything else to check, maybe the injectors are block due to it running on low fuel? if anyone knows what it might be i would gladly appriciate the advice. thanks
  • best car for me 9 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Present car Shogun. What I need is some advice on what's the best car for me under £25000 new or second-hand, running costs not an issue. I live in rural North Norfolk and do about 12000 miles a year - occasional trips to South of France and Portugal, but mostly the longest journey is 65 mile round-trip to Norwich.
  • £2250 max, help guys 8 Feb 2006 (Forum)
The car must be in a low insurance group, petrol, between a 1.1 and 1.4, good economy. In general a cheap run car. Image or performance is not really an issue preferably a small or small/mid sized car - anything from a pug 106 to a skoda fabia, to a fiesta, rover or even hyundai!! im open to suggestions.
  • M62/M621 junction 22 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Take care if you're travelling that way tonight as at the junction is a car or two on fire and yoofs running along the hard shoulder. The smoke is obscuring both carriageways and is pretty thick. I called the police on my mobile (is this a legitimate use for 999? I've never actually called it before. :-)) and they said they'd send someone out.
  • Starting problem - vauxhall astra 31 Dec 2005 (Forum)

  • Rover 400 starting problem 31 Dec 2005 (Forum)
I am waiting for rescue service, but any ideas what this could be? Would be very grateful for advice. Seemed to run fine once started.
  • Brake Fluid 16 Dec 2005 (Forum)
. ;-) The hydraulic disc brakes on my mountain bike can use either Dot 4 or Dot 5.1 fluid. At the moment they're actually running on a mixture of both as I bled them a few weeks ago. Apparently, Dot 5.1 is non-hydroscopic (if that's the word). So, if cars used this, would that eliminate the need for 2-yearly brake fluid changes?
  • Rover V8 Carbs 14 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Now the engine is 100% good with a known history (v8 rover of course) have been told that both carbs not in the best of health (strombergs) is it worth the cost of fitting a new webber carb with a full conversion kit at a not cheap price of £550. I have no real probs with the price BUT will it run £550 better!!! any help would be good
  • Insurance query 3 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Hi all I am running two cars, one that I have a few years No Claims on and the other I have just been insured on for the last few months. My question is, is it possible to combine no claims? For example, if I chalk up one years NCB on one policy, can I add this to my existing 3 years NCB on the other policy come renewal time, therefore giving me four years NCB?
  • Vanishing Point 23 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Maybe that is why the hero spent most of his time departing from the tarmac! Sounded pretty nice but doubt it could have out-run a Jaguar E type in the right hands. -- I wasna fu but just had plenty.
  • Citroen Picasso 1.6HDi gear ratios 20 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I have a new 1.6HDi Citroen Picasso and my intention was to run it in by increasing maximum rpm as the mileage increased, as advised by HJ in the Saturday Telegraph some weeks ago. Unfortunately it has no rev counter and neither the gear ratios or mph/1000rpm are given in the handbook.
  • Tax disk - when to put new one on? 1 Sep 2005 (Forum)
How soon can you display the new tax disk? I did mine on line, all 3 of our cars run out today :-( and I've had the disks for over a week. Could I swop the disks over straight away, or am I supposed to go out at midnight tonight and change them? Or, to to be sure of being legal, should I put both in the screen for a while.
