  On the DVLA website it says 'you can update the photo at any time'. If I update the photo now will they add 10 years on from the expiry date, will it run from when I update the photo, or will it still expire on the original date?

  Hi, igot a 2.0 tddi 02 plate mondeo 160k on the clock, runs fine doesen't use a drop of oil but on start up when cold smokes like hell for a couple of mins, been told this seems more than EGR valve although not checked that, any other ideas, car drives perfect otherwise, thanks colin.

  hi new to this site but looks good got a 2002 vw passet 130 dev that runs ok drives ok but when you start up from cold no misfire it smoke`s dev smell when warmed up its still smoke`s on tick over and still smells of dev but if you drive it after a min or two it all stops

  Having a problem with ABS noisy as the vehicle is stopping and running on for a second or two after it stops. The garage says expensive repair and told my wife to sell the car but is it really that bad? We are unlikely to be able to sell the car easily with this problem.

  Fancy a Grand Scenic, after reading Car-by-car, I've been put off the diesel with EGR valve, and associated modern diesel engine problems. Is the petrol a better buy, would be for low mileage per annum (school run + annual hols) so MPG not too important. My neighbours had 4 with little problems but all of them petrols, thoughts anyone??

  Uh Oh Windscreen just started to mist up, de-mister heater setting won't clear it, only aircon, and at the end of a 3 mile run in average traffic the engine fan came on, this was a new noise, I don't remember hearing it before, 122,000 miles. Any frightening diagnosis anyone ? Advice would be much appreciated.

  Is the emission testing done on both fuel types or just one? Does LPG or Petrol give a lower emissions reading? Is it best to take your car in after a good run out & 'hot' or just take it in stone cold?

  Hi i have an s reg 1.9 td 406, 100k on the clock with an erratic idle it seems to be variating between 1k and 1.1k when the engine is on idle. Then engine appears to run OK when accellerating or cruising, any suggestions, i was thinking fuel? filter, injector? could you prescribe any actions that may help determine the fault?

  i have a 96 delica, 2.8 td exeed. when started it will tick over with no problems, when i drive off it will cut out after about 200yds. it seems to be starved of diesel as it takes quite a bit to restart. this may hapen 2 or 3 times then it will run all day with no problems.

  Provided they are correctly adjusted I don't believe they dazzle oncoming drivers. Any real difference from those daytime running lights on Audi's and others ?

  When the engine is off or the engine is on i cannot get it into first gear. Second gear is hard to achieve but it is possible. ALso whilst the engine is running there is a very violent vibrating around the whole car. Any help would be welcome. Thanks in advance

  Hi, The yellow engine warning light has come on in my Honda Accord. The car seems to be running fine despite this. The car has been regularly serviced until about 18 months ago, and a service is overdue. Can anyone tell me what this light means. By the way the light is constant, not flashing.
• HC Emissions level on MOT 17 Mar 2008 (Forum)
  FOr the 2nd year in a row the HC emissions are approx 100ppm, although in previous years they have been down at 18-20ppm. Any ideas what has made it suddenly jump so much in the last 2 years ? I dont think it can be running rich as the CO levels are very low. Is this anything to be concerned about, althogh it it hasn't changed since the one last year ...?

  I have finally changed my stepper motor (bosch monopoint) as well as the carb as it was all connected and easier to do. The car now starts fine. How do I check if the car is running rich as such or do the electrical cables sort all of that out?, and can I automatically adjust the idle?? Thanks, Richard.

  We about to trade our 2004 Vectra CDTI 117k miles for either a 9-3Sportswagon Diesel, A4 Avant TDI, Volvo V50 2.0D or a Honda CRV diesel. The car is for my partner and whilst i'd prefer the Audi because of build and proven running gear, her in doors prfers the Swedish or Japanese option. Any information/ opinions would be appreciated.   I have a citeron xantia 1.9 p reg turbo diesel.. but its on its last legs So need another run around dont care if its not a citeron and maybe a smaller engine might be cheaper anyway!   had a problem recently with my rover with poor performance, which seems to have cleared up. but the car has still got the problem of running to rich, the figures are; fast idle CO 0.68 % fail 2nd fast idle CO 0.76% fail natural CO 0.72% fail over all fail
