Would ye stop doin' that, would ye? 11 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Screwing up a piece of miscellaneous litter or even chewing gum and ramming it into the ashtray or door pocket 6. Yanking on the door storage bin instead of the grab handle 7. Shutting the door like some kind of badly-trained zoo animal: Hefty slam / timid push / nervous dab at the door frame with (smeary) fingertips /totally ignoring door handle and shoving the window glass 8. -
Sultan of Brunei?s modified Mercedes for sale 22 Sep 2007 (Forum)
The bright red interior is all leather with matching red carpet. The VIP cabin has four electric seats, LCD screens, electric table and storage compartment and a sound system worthy of a Kiss concert. And the amazing air-conditioning system, more suited to the climate of Dubai than Dorking, is powered by an on-board diesel generator. The Sultan is one of the world? -
Aircon maintenance - R12 and options 21 May 2007 (Forum)
I have three pre-1993 cars with aircon systems which use - as originally installed - R12 (Freon) refrigerant. One car has been in storage for some years and the a/c has not been regularly run. I fear therefore that it will at least need a check and top-up. And eventually, so will the other two. BUT... R12 is apparently no longer available, even to maintain existing systems. -
best cheap to run & resell Van? 15 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Or maybe a real cheapy on it's last legs? Dunno. Or maybe I don't really need something colossal-suppose I could stuff sofa's into storage (next door neighbours have a huge Luton thing-get all the sofas etc in there & I know they'd help out) & perhaps one of those people carriers that all the seats come out of? Advice & thoughts all greatfully received. -- http://www.bayingbasset.com -
what is happening to UK armed forces? 16 Feb 2006 (Forum)
In Petersfield there is a Vehicle repair garage where the Army seem to take their lorries and LandRovers to be repaired and serviced, as the REME repair shops are now depots for car storage, this to is a private garage not army. Yesterday there was a large white transporter dropping off a Land Rover and i asked the driver ,who was RAF, "where are your own lorries" ie Scammels/Oshcosh'es? -
Cheap LPG? 16 Oct 2001 (Forum)
My question to anyone who can answer it is, as LPG is surely just simple 'Calor' Propane (many filling stations have a big fillable cylinder same as people in the country do for storage!), is it possible just to either get some contraption to fill your car gas tank from (very cheap) "heating" gas bottles you can get from anywhere, or even perhaps run the car directly from a (securely mounted) cylinder in the boot? -

An enjoyable morning 1 Jul 2021 (Forum)
You’ll think I’m mad but I spent an enjoyable morning cleaning the mil,s car, it’s a thirteen year old Citroen c4 Picasso, it’s got a few dings and stone chips so I know I would be ok using a waterless wash without fear of causing any further damage, it’s only when you get close up and personal that you notice things, sure the alloys are starting to bubble in places, and , as mentioned the odd stone chip, but it’s in remarkable condition for its age, I was quite impressed with all the features, plenty of storage cubbies, fold out tables for the rear passengers, and plenty of room, not sure of the mileage, but I guess it’s not much, it’s done the odd airport trip when they used to go abroad, but up until her hubby passed at the end of last year, it’s not been anywhere save for the odd local trip, it passed its mot recently, and she was asked if it were for sale, I don’t think much has gone wrong with it either, a new cam belt last year, but her son looks after any mechanical issues, so just the wear and tear/ servicing stuff needed, It surprised me how taken I was with it, if er indoors could drive one, I’d seriously consider getting one, newer of course…anyway I’ve finished my rambling…and no, I don’t work for Citroen… -
Seat adjustment. So little choice. 6 Aug 2020 (Forum)
The best feature by far on any car is the memory function for the drivers seat. Allowing minute multi adjustment electrically and storage of that position and the side mirrors in a memory is invaluable. SWMBO being 5'3" and me at 6'2" meant a real problem if she left the seat in her position after using my car. However when opened with my master key the seat and mirrors automatically returned to my settings. -
Grom Audio - 3.5mm and Android connectivity 14 Jun 2016 (Forum)
They say " GROM Car Kits integrate Android® devices, portable music players, iPod®, iPhone®, USB mass storage, Bluetooth® to factory car audio systems. Designed to install with ease, made for self-installation." I rang them up and they said they have a DAB module in development, which should be out soon, once they have tested it. -
KIA Venga 2 - Almost a month (nearly a 1000 miles) 27 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Nothing special to write home about, but driving position and hence comfort much superior to the Kia rio 2 1.2 it replaced after I got stuck in the car (difficulty getting out after a journey to Leeds and a friendly garage attendant offered over the tannoy to come out and fill it up for me) Fuel economy not as good as the rio, but 1.4 instead of 1.2 and more sit up and beg and a bit heavier too. (Between 35-40MPG overall, not complaining) Nice underfloor boot storage, even with a full size steel spare wheel. Boot big enough, and Importantly swmbo approves. Like the reversing sensors, Good big door mirrors too! good rear seats, (had 2 old friends in them up to Aldeburgh and Norwich on separate day trips. -

Setting records for age of fuel in the tank 28 Aug 2009 (Forum)
But it seems to me, there must be a trade off at some point between a drop or so of water that can be easily drained from the filter and derv that is continuing to deteriorate, with the risk of forming asphaltines that are large enough to start plugging the filter - IF the fuel in the tank is not emptied by use as much as possible before each refueling. I wonder how much of the water concern (microbes) arises from evidence in static storage tanks where there is not a constant circulation of fuel with a filter to separate it out? In other words, taking a stance where `condensation concerns` are paramount. How does that change over time? -
Volkswagen - excellent service from main dealer 16 Jun 2009 (Forum)
The car had also been well cleaned inside and out and was spotless. They even found a gold ring and one or two other bits and pieces and left them on the centre storage lid! I think the overall 'customer experience' was superb. Friendly, efficient and understated. Given the way main dealers get a bit of stick here (esp VW!) this goes some way to redress the balance. -
Car has vanished into thin air! 29 Jul 2007 (Forum)
and I'm worried that there's been some sort of admin error and the car is sitting in a yard racking up a massive storage charge. Anyone got any ideas?
