• Recommendations Estate/SUV £3-4K 11 Mar 2024 (Forum)
    I am looking for an estate/SUV for £3-4k (ideally 3). Reliability first and foremost, fuel efficiency second. Needs to cater for occasional DIY runs and carry my dog and family comfortably.  Auto preferred but this probably throws both of my criteria into question? Thanks in advance

    Only need two replacing, so at this time i won't invest in all season tyres.  It's a minefield so many tires to choose from, i'm low mileage user.  School runs, and around town.

  The water pump had to be replaced at 83000 miles after becoming very noisy. As this runs off the timing belt that was replaced too. So Ford claims to get long life from the timing belt on the ecoboost engine but if the water pump fails then not much benefit from a long lived timing belt!

  I wonder how many others have SORNed their pet cars for a bit?  My TR7's tax runs out in a few days time. I can't see much activity for the next few weeks so have decided to keep it off the road for the time being.  Still,  it will be only the first time in 40yrs it's been so idle.

  I am running the IOS11 beta software on my iPhone and the HJ app will not work, I have been getting the message that the app needs updating for sometime on the previous software, but now it just won’t work. Are there any plans to update the app.

  Skoda turbo - isn't the dealer at fault for not originally replacing the turbo pipes or at least checking them for blockages the first time round? This is a known issue on other VAG products, eg Audi TT. Also, letting an engine run when stopped for fuel at a pump is not a good idea....

  If you were to choose a vehicle from the list below which one would you go for based on the price, handling of the vehicle, boot size, running cost and tax?  Honda CRV Mazda CX- 5 Skoda Octavia VRS Vauxhall Insignia  I've currently got a BMW 3 series estate but find the boot size quite small, and the comfort not so great on long jorneys.

  Ive done some research and narrowed down to Nissan Juke, Qashqai, Kuga? Her priorities are cheap to run, highish driving position , space for 2 kids and practicality. She likes the kind of funky look of that makes sense?!

   engine will not tick over when cold plus lack of power when cold keeps cutting out  once warm it will run  but it sound if it is missing i have changed the plugs but it still sounding the same and still not ticking over nor will it pull away when cold
• Citroen C5 Estate exclusive 2005 - Road noise 23 Nov 2016 (Forum)
  I am now running the car on Vredestein Ultra ceuto 215/55/ZR 16 97Y. The tyres are rated at 67 for noise but over rough tarmac the noise is terrible. Over smooth its very queit. Is there a better tyre or wheel and tyre configeration that would eliminate that noise.?

  Is this a good car for weekly runs round the city, plus a few long distance (5 hour) trips a year?  Is it fairly easy to drive for a newly qualified (but middle-aged) driver? Do you think 4000 is a good price for one from 2012, with very low mileage?

Does a gust or a dip make them flip?  All those babyboomber millionaire pension pots need to be told.  HJ - please investigate!

  Good evening I have swapped my engine in a y reg 206 gti today as cam belt snapped all went well until I went to run it up and the oil temperature slowly went up to the red when it then said stop on dash board this happened before the fan had cut in for the rads any help or ideas would be much appreciated

  Hi, Our 7 year old Equitrek horse box on a Peugeot Boxer chassis has about 15000 on the clock and is kept outside. It is running on the orginal Firestone tyres dated 2008 that have plenty of tread but I'm concerned about age deterioration in the rubber. Would you please advise whether the tyres need replacing and if so when?

  There's an ad on LBC (and presumably other radio stations) with what sounds like a Rally navigator but turns out to be school run Mum dropping the brat off. The pace notes tell you to "mind the leaves" and "watch for puddle" - why? Can't the Audi's "legendary" 4WD system cope with a puddle and a few leaves? What an own goal!

  Hi I'm running in a new Alto as per the owner's manual. I've used 1 & 2/3rds of a 35 litre tank and travelled 440 miles, which seems very poor. Is it usual to have poor fuel economy for the first couple of thousand miles while the engine beds in?

  I run a year 2000 ldv... i want to downrate it to 3500 kg..and i need a new vin plate. what i want to know, is can i make one myself from some aluminium... and stamp it ? my friend used a piece of coke tin years ago, and apparently this was legal ?
