The rear Brakes on the Bike aren't feeling very sharp. Is it possible for brakes to partially sieze in such a way that braking is only slightly worse? What should I use to clean the pistons? Is there anywhere else they bind?

Just been told my MX5 has failed its MOT as the front offside brake is sticking. I'm worried that my mechanic should have already spotted this, as I took my car in just 12 days ago because the brakes weren't working (barely any resistance on brake pedal, plus swerving when braking).
  • Fiesta brakes 2 Sep 2003 (Forum)
This may seem like a strange post, but I'm curious as to why , under heavy braking (ie emergency stop scenario) the brakes on my 98 Fiesta (solid disc front, drum rear,no ABS) DON'T lock up! Every other car I've had (all sizes, apart from ABS equipped ones obviously) lock their brakes in the dry as well as the wet if you brake hard enough (Not that I do this all the time, you just get a feel for when its going to happen!)
