Living with the Seicento 8 May 2007 (Forum)
It wont start to play a CD if the car is moving, but start the CD when your stationary and it plays fine, most odd, but its not a Fiat CD player ( Clarion ) so not directly linked to Fiat. I have decided to get the cambelt done a year early as it cant do any harm and then i wont be worrying about it ( I dont always trust manufacturers recommendations aimed at the fleet markets running costs ). -
Wrongly accuse of being in an accident 27 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I can only assume the other driver wrote it down incorrectly, and i don't think it is cloned either - I have had no parking fines or anything else. I also asked, that if they exchanges details, what name did 'I' give. She told me and it was not my name, or anybody I know. I have never lent my car to anybody either. My options are I attend court and defend this or I don't attend and my old insurers will pay out and I will have this claim on my record. -
Mobilo experience 15 Jan 2007 (Forum)
, 2 people arrive in 2 cars, take details/get signature & leave. Now, I'm sure if I had just suggested that a Mondeo or Vauxhall was fine, then it could have been delivered with the hour (there are 2-3 of their outlets with 40mins drive), so could have been done-and-dusted within 2hours of 1st call, but as it turned it was no problem to me. -
Volvo S80 battery problem 1 May 2006 (Forum)
I managed to get the RAC guy to give me a jump start and lso moanaged to clear out the flooding and the car ws fine..drove it a few places just to recharge the battery did about 100miles to and from Reading and I was satisfied that the battery had charged enogh. But yesterday after having parked the car for about 3 days..it was to my amazement that when i went to unlock the central locking with the remote the alarm suddenly went off nd it wouldnt turn off regardless how many times I pressed the remote. -
Celebrating 40 years of the 18-22 series Wedge 27 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Of the quartet, he says, the Princess is his favourite because it most closely replicates his original vision. "We wanted to take the company into the modern age," he says, showing a picture of the 18-22 parked beside its frumpy Austin 1800 predecessor. The shot was taken in 1971, four years before the 18-22’s launch, and the clay model looked ready to fire British Leyland 20 years into the future. -
Volkswagen Polo GTI 2015 DSG 1.8 TSI - Need to reject / swap car 21 Mar 2016 (Forum)
I made it home and called the VW technician and they came out, and said it was a spark plug and swapped it round.. All was fine for a week.. Then, I was pulling away from a junction, and the EPC light came on again, car was rattling like a bag of spanners and it smelt like burning.. Was not driveable. AA said there was nothing they could do and returned the car back to the Dealership. -
Renault Clio 1.5 dCi 68 road test . . . 28 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I enjoy seeing all the 2CVs and Renault 4s. Saw one (yes, only one) Dacia Logan in a car park. In another car park saw a Lancia Thesis. Saw one or two Chrysler C300 taxis. Was quite surprised by how many Pluriels I saw. Most exciting moment was seeing a Citroen DS being driven along the main road by the med. -
New car time 5 Oct 2023 (Forum)
Told him the Icon spec was fine for us and that is what we would buy. After a few more words we left on pretty bad terms. Off to VW then and a far better experience. Had a used GTi on the forecourt and it seemed very nice. -
Citroen Relay II, 2002-2006 (registered 2007) - Burning smell (clutch?), slow air suspension, etc 4 Sep 2023 (Forum)
The oil is fine, so I assume this is a clutch issue - though the clutch doesn't slip or show other signs of wear. What exactly is the problem, and how can I fix it? Is it likely to cause further damage if I drive it like this? -
Toyota Yaris Hybrid - Coincidence or negligence? 6 Apr 2021 (Forum)
I bought a 2015 Toyota Yaris Hybrid in March 2020 and took it for it's first MoT under my ownership in March this year. The MoT was fine but with a recommendation to change the two front tyres as they were near their legal tread limit, and an advisory that the rear offside tyre was cracked and would need dealing with. I had the two front tyres changed and left the cracked back tyre (they didn't suggest I change it at this point). -
Mercedes-Benz SLK 200K - To write off or to not write off? 18 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Hello! Sorry for the length of post! So someone hit my car while parked and just drove off, it was all caught on CCTV. I rang my insurance explained it all and the girl said it was a write off without even sending someone to look at it. To the point where she told me I should empty the car and someone will collect it. -
Skoda Superb - A cautionary tale about DSG Gearboxes 2 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Managed to use first gear, which works really well and is a fine example to the other gears of how a gearbox should work, to get onto a slip road on the way to Littleborough (which I'm sure is worth visiting on a day when it's warm and not blowing a gale). Nice RAC man tried to reverse the car from outside the convenient Kelda substation that I'd crawled to in first gear, but reverse gear is also reluctant to work. -
Vauxhall Vectra B facelift (1999 - 2002) - 02 1.8 coolant temperature woes 10 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Got car back and replaced stat (just stat and not the full stat housing, using QTH600K kit) and everything seemed fine for a couple of weeks, but then noticed car was getting very hot, up over 100 and into the red. The fan would come on eventually to cool it back down to around 95 (normally stays around 90, fan cuts in at around 92 and goes off at around 89). -
Daihatsu Charade (2003 - 2006) - 2000 mile report 29 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Steering is nicely weighted and neither too quick or too slow. Grip is not a strong point but in normal driving it is absolutely fine and the car can still be thrown round the backroads. Ride is very good for a small car, body control does suffer due to narrow track but its not very noticeable in the normal run of things, just when you get quick changes of camber. -
1994 Fiesta - sudden dead battery 7 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I'm pretty sure that it got to the point where it completely tried to run off the battery and couldn't be driven, whereas my wife's appears to be fine until the engine stops and the battery doesn't appear to be holding its charge, even when it has been fully charged... Anyone got any ideas on the problem based on this description please? -
MOT Asian style 6 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Time for my boss Big G. to register his Honda. Actually he's one month late so has to pay fine. Register your car or bike here can take a whole day, so many people and long lines. You have to bring your vehicle and nowhere to park unless you pay one of the cruising traffic cops to stay away from it. -
Bangernomics 22 Oct 2019 (Forum)
No monthly payment, no expensive main dealer servicing, no worries if it catches a scuff or a dent and you’ll be carefree about where you park it. It can be truly worry free monitoring of done right. However to list cars I’d recommend is complicated by the fact that condition is of much greater importance than make and model at this money. -
BMW I3 - I bought a used BMW I3- a story to be updated . 13 Sep 2025 (Forum)
Conclusions: easy to drive, quiet, comfortable economical and blistering acceleration (0-60mph in 8 seconds). Comfortable., ride smoother than reviews suggested.. Parking in tights spaces fine. Looks like 2 year old car. Car is 8 years old: battery degradation appears ..nil.. (underrated by BMW) EDIT: I purposely bough pre April 2017 car as VED is £0 rising to £20 net year. -

Alfa GT 3.2 V6 - Problems with new(to me) car dealer won't fix! 12 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Also while looking for the leak I noticed the engine stabiliser bar bushes were completely worn out so I replaced that. The cruise control doen't work, passenger heated seat doesn't work and the rear parking sensors do not work also. An intermittent knock developed from the front suspension area, the stabiliser bar ends and a damper were replaced (£230). I found a hole in the exhaust that had been temporarily been patched up and now the water pump is not working and is being replaced today, all the timing belt and tensioners need doing at the same time, as the belts have to be removed to take the pump off (£550 not alfa dealer).
