  As diesels are getting  cleaner, the technology is getting more complicated and pointing people to petrol cars that do not have any filters fitted (PM's). If manufacturers are so comitted to low emissions how is it that I cannot buy a Ford Focus without air con ( uses 8% more fuel) and told by most enonomy drivers to turn off and it adds £500 to car.

  When I asked what had been found after the repair at the tyre centre, they stated it had been leaking at the beading. First time I've heard of this - both bikes and cars on tubeless tyres in more than 50 years on the road. I recall hitting a big pothole recently on a very badly lit road and assume it was this that caused the leak. Lucky I have "old fashioned" 45 section tyres or it could have been a broken wheel.

I understand that Toyota Prius have a better reputation than this and given the heavy use they take as their life as taxis I’m sure this is the case !

  End nearest clutch (under battery) has a threaded end section.  Clutch is very flat to floor in car but clutch is not old, approx 3-4 years and low miles. Can't assess if cable is poorly fitted, worn out or needs adjustment. Is a base model 95' 1.5D. Guidance greatly appreciated as always

  Decided to do as usual, car now 2.5 years old, replace wipers before the winter.. Not only did my local kia dealer quote me £54  and sone pennies for 2 front windscreen wippers, but offered to fit the, and i asked how much the fitting charge, then fainted.

  I have an aftermarket radio, I'm pretty sure it's wired correctly, as under normal situations it remembers all its presets when left.  However on occasion when turning the car over, it will reboot and lose all its presets. I am thinking a large voltage drop is causing this.   The battery is pretty new (18 months old). Is there something I should be looking at for other causes?

  I would serious suggest avoiding VW TDI Bluemotion: repair was £700 and VW was not interested in making a contribution to the repair.  On a four year old car.

  Hi All I've been looking at buying an old Mazda 3 (04 - 07) but am rapidly going off the idea due to the frequency of rust issues. eg. Went to see a "mint" 55k 04 Sport only to find it had just been sent to the bodyshop for new wings. Does anyone know if the 07 facelift cars are any better ?

  My VW Up is almost three years old, passed an MOT yesterday and the warranty in soon up. Are there any downsides to independent garages? I used a local one four years ago, he was very good. My concern is access to parts so the car could end up off the road for longer, or returning when parts arrive.

• Vauxhall Corsa C - Warning light for engine electronics stays on 24 Aug 2014 (Forum)
  The control indicator light for engine electronics and immobilizer remained on during a 80 mile journey hole last night and the acceleration was dipping now and then as if there was a blockage to the fuel line. I have arranged to pass this old but usually reliable and well maintained car on for £250 in the next couple of weeks and so don't want to be confronted with a large bill. Any advice on the cause of the problem and what a solution might be?
