• Best cheap automatic small car? 16 Dec 2014 (Forum)
  Hi all, looking for some advice for a relative who has a frozen shoulder and needs a cheapo automatic small car fast! Budget up to £1500 prefer less. Mostly city driving. Must be small sized car (women drivers and all that lol) Any recommendations? also any autoboxs to stay clear of?? thanks in advance...

  I have a vectra 1.9 150bhp which when I accelerate there's a clicking noise it only happens when I accelerate. There's only one click but it happens all the time when the gas pedal is depressed when driving along . Also the service light comes on with the spanner on it. Any ideas on this problem please.

  Hi good day please advise - when driving in peak traffic my car suddenly just start to pic up speed and struggle to reduse the speed when applying the brakes. This happened with out applying presure on the accellerating pedal, it just pic's up speed increasingly. mostly around 60kph and 80 kph.

    First of all, the cd player and AM radio work fine.  Put FM radio on and nothing, sometimes if its been left on while driving it suddenly plays and goes off again.  Its got me very puzzled, Any suggestions please, Thanks.

  starts run on tickover for 1min then stalls plus i can start it and drive 2/3 mile and it will cut out on me i restart it and it fine just when its cold this happens help please

  Bought this car from auction drives lovely filled it to the brim with diesel trip computer showing -- and no fuel gage working any ideas ie fuse (hope so ) or maybe the sender all advice appreciated thanks in advance

  The worst drivers on the road IMO under the LGV umbrella, who like to think they have LGV skills, are the 7t box lorries driven by idiots on car licences. They drive them like a car and give proper LGVers a bad reputation. I think it's time anything bigger than a transit should entail a LGV qualified driver.
• Vauxhall Insignia - Exhaust and Brakes 22 Jan 2014 (Forum)
  Vauxhall want to insist that it is a reasonable position. Driven carefully witrh no excessive braking and driving 8k or so each year. Also - is 5 years a reasdonable period before having to replace much of the exhaust system - front pipe, silencer, muffler etc. All totally shot and corroded.

  Hi, can anyone out there help please. While driving to work my Piccasos gears suddenly felt stiff, after i pulled over they got worse to the point of no gear change possible at all. No previous problems in the past and clutch is ok. Many thanks in advance of any help

  Car starts no problem at all but engine management light stays on and while driving car tends to misfire, not badly but enough for car to like stutter , have changed plugs,air filter still same, have you any ideas please and thank you

  Anyone out there driving the Passat CC with the conventional torque converter automatic? Not many on auto trader but they do exist! Just interested about reliability and performance. Great looking car but too many DSG horror stories and I need auto box Cheers Dave

  When I drive my car hard on the motorway and come to a exit or roundabout, when i try to pull away if feels like a have "turbo lag". I put my foor on the accelarator but nothing happens for half a second and then full power.

  Old autoboxes used to 'think' on their own I believe as to which gear to pick, but can anyone explain how modern autos work, in particular how abs and 4 wheel drive control units interact with them? Can faults in these supplementary units casue the box to do unexpected changes?

  At 1800 -2000 rpm the engine stutters as though  it has a flatspot. Can drive through the stuuter ok. Garage computer shows no codes and they do not know the cause. Bit like a petrol engine flatspot you used to get on old cars. Starts ok and no oither problems. Engine done 38k miles.

  hi i have a 2001 vectra 2.0 dti it has a very weird problem it is fine when cold starts perfect drives perfect and as soon as it gets warm it starts cutting out and warning light comes on and when properly warm it wont run at all .plugged it in to a diagnostic machine and it came up with critical system malfunction and help would be great thanks

  I have an intermittent problem with indicators which fail to cancel sometimes, start flashing after driving over a bump, or switch on parking lights after car has been parked.   Can this only be a fault in the steering column switch, or is there a relay which might be at fault? Is it a DIY job?

  Hi, I've recently bought a 5 year old focus from a main ford dealership. I've been driving it a week and have discovered 3 heating elements in the rear windscreen don't work and a little rattling noise from the front of the car when travelling on the motorway. do you think it reasonable to take it back for the dealer to remedy these issues??

  Have just bought a J reg. 205 for my son to learn/practice in- excellent condition and drives nicely. No service history however. Can any backroomer tell me the recommended mileage for timing belt renewal? The car has done 105K, so I assume it would have been changed at least once! Many thanks, P.

  Hampshire /Surrey area, three of us caught for minor speeding offences.....I know it serves me right but the three of us had clocked up over a hundred years of driving without a blemish. Anyway in my case SWMBO and I can't remember who was actually at the wheel at the time so being a gent I am taking the rap.

  throttle peddle went last wekpek, diagnostic checker said to replace peddle, done this, it drove a few times and exact same fault has occured, cant drive it to a garage as no accekaration,  could this be asensor?  any one had this before? feel free to email me   lmartin0781@tiscali.co.uk
