  • Ford KA 2003 - Driving with heater on full 9 Jul 2016 (Forum)
Hi I'm having to drive around with my heater on full to stop the temperature light coming on, what is the most likely cause?. Coolant levels are fine had an air block a while ago but that is all sorted now. Don't dare take the car further than local areas.
  • Ford fiesta - Driving after an accident 21 Jan 2013 (Forum)
My sons car has been in an accident, rear end damage that appears to be minor (bumper is intact but either side plastic bits sticking out and crease in boot) It has been reported, waiting for a response from the other insurance company, but is it ok to carry on driving it in the meantime? Does it have to be re-mot'd or reported to VOSA?

  • Driving gently to ameliorate high fuel prices 6 May 2009 (Forum)
As I expected, the subject of recent high fuel price increases has been forgotten, just as it was every other time there were increases. If the subject didn't get regularly forgotten I'd still be driving gently to ameliorate the fact that petrol has gone up from being 5 shillings a gallon.
  • Driving in Gran Canaria? 12 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Never been to the islands so I know nothing. Do Back Roomers think it's worth hiring a car or is public transport OK? What are the roads and driving like and any advice on rental companies to use/avoid? All advice appreciated and my thanks in advance. R40
  • obstructing a driveway 15 Jul 2007 (Forum)
It seems to be established that the road in front of a house is a public highway and anyone can park there - not just the owner/tenant. How about a drive to a garage or when the occupant parks on his front garden? What is the LEGAL position if someone parks in a manner to:- 1. Prevent access to the drive. 2. Prevent exit from the drive. Is it an offence and if so what offence?
  • Car for SWMBO 10 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Wife is learning to drive and needs to practise but finds my car Rover 416 a bit hard to drive, so was thinking of buying a car that she could practise in and drive when test is passed. Budget is £600 to £800 and at the most the car will be covering 8,000 miles a year, looking for something Vauxhall Corsa or Astra size and low insurance groups Any suggestions please
  • Driving bigger cars 16 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Other than just getting used to it, is there a best way of getting the hang of driving a bigger car? I'm getting better at the side distance, but reversing around things (E.g. parallel parking) and up against things still gives me the heebie-jeebies! I always seem to manage a fairly good parallel park but normally through luck.
  • What happened to Test Drive magazine? 5 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Does anyone know if Test Drive magazine has been pulled from publication? I liked the format and down to earth road test articles but I haven't seen the magazine in the shops for a couple of months now and a Google search doesn't give me any info.
  • Vauxhall 3 day Test Drive 4 Apr 2006 (Forum)
www.offers.vauxhall.co.uk I see once again Vauxhall are offering their cars for a 3 day test drive. I took advantage of this last year to try the Astra Sports hatch and although I disliked the car, the actual procedure was relatively fuss-free with no hard pressure sales. Might try out a new Zafira this time...
  • Corolla gearbox level check/Drive belt 2 Apr 2005 (Forum)
For a 2001 1.4 vvti model (last of old shape) does anyone have a diagram of what has to be removed to check the box level? Also what top up oil should be used? Also I cannot see an adjuster for the alternator drive belt. How is the belt tensioned please? Thanks.
  • very short drives: how bad are they ? 1 Dec 2003 (Forum)
We have to frequently drive 2 miles to the nearest park to walk our dog, it varies but on average 5 times a week. Is this likely to cause damage to the 2 Litre petrol engine (it's a new Mazda) and how badly ? I read that it might seeing as a car needs over 3 miles to complete a full cycle.

  • Nissan Micra (1992 - 2003) - N reg auto CVT gearbox (minor ???) problem 14 Sep 2024 (Forum)
Car drives perfectly. Idling is perfect. BUT engaging drive the lever baulks and when forced in causes a horrible crunching noise. The button on the side of the gearlever is fine. The crinching noise comes from the gearbox rather than the base of the lever.
  • Peugeot 308 SW - Carless Driving 24 Feb 2022 (Forum)
Obviously I will be notifying the insurer first thing in the morning, but am I likely to be adding driving without insurance to my prosecution list? When I talk to the insurers tomorrow, should I mention the NIP yet or wait for the prosecution?  Renewal due in 60 days.
  • Suzuki Splash - drive shaft seal leaking 10 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Took my wife's splash for the annual service and was advised rear shock absorber requires replacement but also that the o/s drive shaft seal is leaking and requires repair My wife has a friend with a similar agila and hers had to have a replacement gear box. Wondering if gear box problems are common on the splash and most importantly what the consequences of the drive shaft seal leaking might be, ie, what else should I check with this in mind?
