  I contacted you before but failed to make clear that the car is less than 3 years old and owned from new. I would be grateful to know what sort of driving style could lead to catastriphic clutch failure after only 11300 miles. The pattern of driving is no different from previous cars with similar annual low mileage. I always thought that low mileage was a selling point for used cars Minimugged

  Father in Law's car done 2303 miles - clutch burnt out - 3 piece clutch kit replaced but that burnt out after driving 9 miles.  Appreciate he can ride the clutch sometimes in traffic - but is it likely to be burnt out by his driving after only 9 miles?   Would appreciate any comments.  Have a good Christmas.

  my car will start and idle at about 5000 rpm but as soon as i touch the accelerator it will go up to about 10000 rpm then cut out it will do this about 4 times then it will rev reluctantley ,when driving it will seem to shudder no lights on dash and cut out and seem to miss when driving ???? is it fuel starvation or coil maybe ??

  Hi all, I've just bought a Mk4 Golf gt tdi 130 and even though it drives well the temp gauge hardly moves from the minimum position even after 30 mins driving. Sometimes it seems to be rising and then goes back down again. Is it just a sensor or is the coolant just not getting hot enough.

  Just had a discussion/debate with a retired couple. My view is its better to reverse into a supermarket parking space. However, they like to drive in forwards so they can leave the trolley in the roadway and load shopping bags. I'd rather reverse, carry shopping bags from trolley to boot of car and then easily drive out forwards. This couple vehemently disagreed, yet the wife conceded that when reversing out she'd hit another car!!!

I'd have fined him £5000, sentenced him for 2 years and banned him for driving for 5 years. Also, made him re-take his test and go on a course to find out the risks of using a mobile phone, or 2, while driving.

  I accidently put 6 litres of unleaded in the tank than filled it up with 50 litres of diesel.  I drove 55 miles motorway home.  The car seems to drive fine - however, do you think it's safe to continue to drive or should I have the tank drained tomorrow?  If so, should we take over 50% out or do you think it should be completely drained?  Would adding lubricant make a difference?

  Morning all I'm pretty sure the thrust bearing has gone on my car. It drives and changes gear ok but when the clutch is pressed to change gear it squeals and there is a smell of burning. What I want to know is how long can I drive it like this? I am getting a new car in a few weeks and do no want to spend money on the Picasso only to get rid of it in a few weeks!

  Took a 2008 Audi A4 1.9 Tdi for a test drive. No smoke apparent at start up but about 2 mins into the drive when we stopped at a set of lights we noticed a lot of white/grey smoke coming from exhaust. As we contined the test drivev(approx 30 mins) there was no further smoke.

  i have a red brake warning light which comes on every time i drive my car after i drive a very short distance it beebs 3 time then the red light flashes contiuously until i turn the car off, there are new pads an disc in this car!! and there ar NO WEAR SENSORS ON THIS MODEL!!

  Does anyone have any advice about loud crack type noises that seem to come from the dashboard or windscreen struts of the convertible we have just bought? It is a BMW series 1 car and the noises are quite disconcerting when driving over a bump or going round doundabouts? It is mainly in the first 10 miles of driving a journey and the car is only about 10 months old. Any advice would be appreciated.

  Overheated for the first time last night. Engine still driving,it has genuine 80,000 miles been told head gaskett gone? Car drives fine and has normal oil consumption but heavy petrol consumption and  loses water from filler tank for radiator no leaks from hoses or radiator?
