Going to Motorshow Sunday- travel advice 25 Jul 2008 (Forum)
On top of that, they're both very playful, think everyone is a friend and love trains, so could get very excitable and wander around on the train itself. So, getting to the point, looks like driving will be best option, is it likely to be relatively pain free (although live in West Country am not daunted by big cities- find Bristol stress free and used to live and drive in Caen, which was truly atrocious). -
Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 03 1.4 Judders when pulling away in first - noisy 23 Jul 2008 (Forum)
But then a couple of days ago I noticied it started to judder (almost like when you have pulled away in 2nd or 3rd) when pulling away and that the revs drop to practically nothing, the engine has also started to make a horrid noise, I have checked the cam belt and it dosen't look to have slipped and was replaced according to the history 18 months ago! Being a typical women, I thought it may have been my driving, but then my hubby took it out and said there is definately something wrong with it! Any suggestions peps, I am at the moment not driving it, and have left it on my driveway! HELP :0) -
Have I Got My 3 Points? 15 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I realised this when about 30 to 50 yards from a speed camera after which I reduced my speed to less than 30 miles per hour. Don,t forget I am still within the first year of obtaining my british full driving less, thus my license would be revoked if I get up to 6 points. Moreover, driving is essential for my source of livelihood. I am so confused now and afraid. Have I got my 3 points ? For how long should I wait for the notice to the aforementioned before I assume I have not been fined after all? -

Nude male motorist spotted 12 Feb 2008 (Forum)
A perfectly ordinary looking chap - except for the lack of clothes that is. I'd got held up in a traffic queue at some roadworks. He was in front of me, driving a red hatchback. His driving seemed erratic, getting very close to the kerb. My colleague who was sitting next to me suggested he was about to make a U-turn to get out of the queue. He suddenly did a U-turn, and as he turned past us, I noticed he was very flustered and anxious and he definitely wasn't wearing anything that we could see apart from a pair of glasses. -
Citroen Saxo (1997 - 2003) - 1.1 2000 - bunny hopping and spluttering idling 2 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Please can someone direct me to the right place so I can have a look and try and fix it myself as I cant afford a mechanic and desperately need my car. Also, is it dangerous or bad for my engine to drive the car the way it is for now if I cant fix it and cant raise the money for a mechanic to fix it? Thanks Emmap -
Decisions, decisions...Fiat Panda or Toyota Yaris? 30 Jan 2008 (Forum)
If they were both approved used, I'd go for the Yaris. If the seller is the only owner, she must have been driving round nice and gently for 5 years! I'd like to know what you guys think. Cheers -

Insurance (Lack of) Question 5 Dec 2007 (Forum)
He has his own car which is insured fully comp. He was at a 'do' with his parents last week and agreed, once there, to drive his dad's car home so his dad could have a drink. Although son is not named on Dad's insurance, they both (son and his dad) thought that he would be covered third party by son's insurance. However, it appears that this is not the case, as regulations regarding cover to drive other cars was apparently recently updated, and you now have to be 25 before this benefit can apply. -
I've Been Naughty Today 27 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Typical of this time of year, nobody away on holiday, everybody out Christmas shopping and the Winter lethargy dulling everyone's driving skills. So, I have to admit that where folk are forming long orderly lines in the inside lane before roundabouts, I've been driving up the outside lane, finding the slow driver at the junction and filtering in. -
Hyundai i30 (2007 - ) - Better than Golf AND Focus according to Autocar 7 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Just thumbing through this weeks Autocar in the petrol station (as you do) and spotted a group test with Golf, Focus, 308 and the new i30. Apparently the i30, Focus and Golf are virtually inseparable, the Focus is the best drive, the Golf the best residuals and "image" (usual stuff), and the i30 "arguably" a better all round car than either of them. One part of this test involved "blindfold" driving as well, under controlled conditions. -
Commute to Docklands... 6 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Hi board, I have a confession to make... I'm a bad person, I drive to work in Docklands every day... Currently I am living out near the M20 in Kent, and can make it into work in 1hr-1hr15 min (depending on the Blackwall Tunnel), compared to a commute of nearly 2 hours each way on the train and the sweaty, overcrowded Jubilee line. -

Focus - Noisy Steering 4 Jul 2007 (Forum)
A couple of questions: 1) I'm told this play/wear will not affect handling etc, but the noise is annoying. 2) The car drives very well, even wear on the front tyres with 3-4 mm of tread left, if the work is done does anyone think the geometry will be affected, the garage say that the tracking will not be disturbed. However previous experiance leaves me less than confident that this will be the case! -
Buying Zafira and pushing for best deal 18 Jun 2007 (Forum)
The cost of this might be covered by getting pre reg, any comments? When I buy cars, I normally do the test drive, ask about stock/delivery time, then do the deal over the phone . I figure asking for best price, then ask for the usual mud flaps etc.. then to "seal the deal" go for a tank of gas. Would this be about right? -
Filled up Diesel Volvo S40 with Petrol 18 May 2007 (Forum)
Last night I drove car back home which was around half a mile and it was fine but this morning after driving it for 10 minutes or so car seemed to get a little bit funny, jerking a bit. I kept on driving it and drove 40 miles to work mainly on the motorway and at speeds over 70 it was as smooth as it normally is. -
95 Golf 1.6 (AEE) Accelerator Dead Spot 2 May 2007 (Forum)
The dead spot is about in the middle of the pedal's travel, and corresponds to between about 65mph and ~100mph in 5th. This makes motorway driving very annoying :) To go into a bit more detail: - When I start the car, it's fine, but the idle's very high (2k - 2.5k rpm) - After a few minutes driving (varies), the dead spot kicks in. This happens every time. - If I'm in neutral for more than 30 seconds or so, the dead spot goes (but will come back in a couple of minutes) - If I hold the accelerator in the dead spot position and depress the clutch, I can see the revs spike from ~1000rpm to ~1000rpm every second or so.
