Renault Scenic - Used car warranty problems 3 Nov 2014 (Forum)
They said there was no fault to the fuel injection because they checked the fault history of the car's computer log and it does not show any fuel injection fault in its history log. A week later feeling disatisfied and still with lack of power I brought the car in again to the dealership and insisted they have a second check. -
Real MPG - Hyundai i10 1.2 5 Nov 2012 (Ask HJ)
I recently bought a brand new Hyundai i10 1.2. I've done 1100 miles so far and I'm really disappointed with its fuel consumption. It's getting 40-43mpg.... -
VW Golf GT Sport (140 BHP) - 91W and 91Y Tyre Pressures 9 Jun 2012 (Forum)
This does not bother me as I would happily sacrifice some fuel consumption for safety, but now I am thinking that maybe my new 91Y rated tyres are not correctly inflated. I know that the GYEF1's are excellent tyres with very good grip, so maybe the drop in fuel consumption is due to them being slightly more 'stickier'/grippier than my old tyres (which were worn, so maybe that is a factor?) -
Why is my Mercedes-Benz so thirsty? 17 Mar 2012 (Ask HJ)
Three weeks ago I bought a 10-month-old Mercedes-Benz B160 auto from a Mercedes dealership with 10,000 miles on the clock. I have been depressed by the... -
VW golf 04 - EGR and exhaust temp faults. Advice please! 6 Apr 2011 (Forum)
Looking at the diagnostic log from when the car was in for the service, I can see three faults. 6575 P0191 008 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance 7808 P1400 001 EGR Vacuum Regulator Solenoid Valve -N18- Electrical malfunction in circuit 7863 P1455 008 Exhaust gas temperature sender 1 -G235 Implausible signal Now I understand that the first fault is why the fuel pump was replaced but what i was wondering was is the first garage negligent in the other two faults that could have prevented my car from cutting out the next day? -

Budget 2009 24 Apr 2009 (Forum)
These will provide a stronger signal to consumers at the point of purchase. 7.53 To ensure that new VED rates and bands are clearly understood by motorists, the Department for Transport has worked with the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership to update the fuel economy label for new vehicles, and is continuing to work with industry to develop a fuel economy label for the second-hand car market. 7.54 Budget 2009 also announces changes to the VED rules on refunds, six-month licences and imported vehicles during the first year of vehicle licensing, from April 2010, as a consequence of the introduction of First-Year Rates, as well as general changes to the treatment of imported vehicles. -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 02 2.0 HDi low power after hitting flood. 23 May 2008 (Forum)
Its obviously delivering fuel, more than before, yet I have really low power in the lower revs. Overtaking is now a memory!! Tried the disconnect battery thing to reset ECU, all this got me was an "ENGINE IMMOBILISER FAULT", a tow trip to the garage and a 100 euros to reset. -
Cars - Just a numbers game? 25 Jun 2007 (Forum)
It almost always gets over 40mpg, and on the motorway it can approach 60mpg (depending on conditions). If I got this car I would be very dissapointed because I wouldn't expect it to drink more fuel. I suspect the Getz would probably pay lower tax too, but in reality it is probably worse. This week I saw an interesting thing in my local IAM newsletter. Apparently some Auto Express tests have show that the best-selling models do not live up to their claimed fuel consumption figures, with some using a third more. -
306 HDI 90 T reg - ECU/Imobilisor?? 30 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I would appreciate any advice on the following so's I now which garage to trust... 1.Car wont start one lunchtime. Not battery or fuel and this is first time this has happened. 2. I towed it 1st garage who tried a new ignition aerial with no luck, refitted the original and said take it to better equiped garage. 3. 2nd garage removed ECU and sent away to Bosch for diagnostics which reported back saying ECU needs repair to fuel pump, however they can't do anything as secondary fault reported which might be imobilisor. 2nd garage thought car was imobilised due to 1st garage 'playing around' with ignition aerial. -
A More Economical Engine. 29 Aug 2005 (Forum)
ie. 1 - 2 1 - 3 1 - 4 1 - 5 2 - 3 2 - 4 2 - 5 3 - 4 3 - 5 4 - 5 These figures can be fed into a computer for analysis of exactly how much fuel that particular cylinder required injecting. I am convinced this theory would work and would result in - 1. Greater fuel economy. 2. Greater horsepower for size of motor. 3. Greater Torque. 4. -

Chevrolet Matiz - General advise about lack of power going uphill 27 Feb 2023 (Forum)
Last time I drove it it struggled to make 20mph on the hills and was slow on the flat and there was an awful strong ‘fuel’ smell when I tried to push it. It starts fine. No warning lights on the dash and no other problems that I’m aware of. A couple of people (and Google) said it could be the fuel filter blocked so I was hoping that’s what it was. -
Subaru Forester/Toyota Auris Estate 2010 to 2015 10 Jan 2023 (Forum)

Is it possible? (£4,000.00 Budget) 31 Aug 2022 (Forum)
Ideally the width of the back seats could also fit an adult in between them, at a push. Good boot is also needed, etc. Excellent on fuel. I commute 40 to 50 miles a day on my own so fuel costs are a big factor to me as I have to pay these myself (no allowance etc). Its mostly rural driving, if that matters. I realise 'good MPG' is subjective, but 45+ is what I'd be looking for I guess. -
