  • Golf GTI lumpy idle 17 Oct 2001 (Forum)
My 1989 Golf GTI 8V (digifant injection) has always had a slightly lumpy idle, but recently things have got worse. The lumpiness is felt throughout the car. I have changed the plugs, leads, cap, rotor arm, cleaned out the valve on top of the engine, cleaned the idle screw all to no avail. Does anybody have any ideas, does the whole intake system need a clean? Its all quite black inside.
  • Mazda 6 Tourer - Battery Charging in Situ with i-Eloop 14 Sep 2021 (Forum)
Replacement Q85 batteries are expensive and I don’t much fancy having to replace one because it got damaged by being discharged too much. The CT5 charger came with a set of pigtail leads with eyelets that could be connected up across the battery to allow for quick connection to the charger and for trickle charging/keeping topped up without having to disconnect it. However I have not been able to successfully charge the battery in situ using these pigtail leads.

  • Alarm bells ringing. Can anyone reassure? 12 Jun 2015 (Forum)
logcode=p I've called up the bloke, and he seems to prefer cash, when I suggested making payment via debt he said I could transfer the money.  I've done a little bit of digging and can't find anything on google that leads to S&H motors. However when googling his number it leads to more autotrader adverts under the trading name of H&T cars (All the same distance away from me). The post code he text me just shows a random street.

  • Second hand market doing really well?? 22 Feb 2021 (Forum)
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-northamptonshire-56104281 For months I’ve heard people, including lying car dealers, that the second hand market is booming. Because of covid, less new cars have been sold, leading to a shortage of used vehicles, increasing prices. Not even a hint of admitting that finance companies are struggling to process defaults on payments. Well, that giant car park is not fake news and I’m sure it’s not the only one of its kind.
  • Garmin Nuvi 40 sat nav query 18 Aug 2020 (Forum)
My question is will the sat nav work if I used a USB port rather than the 12v socket? This would be preferable to having a longer power lead trailing along the console to the 12v power socket.
  • Over supply of fuel 2 Apr 2020 (Forum)
Also it says some fuel retailers will have to close as they're not getting enough customers to keep doors open.  Could this lead to further issues in the future when the world comes out of lock down?
  • Automatic Only Licence 29 May 2019 (Forum)
With increasing traffic volumes and no real interest on her part in driving a manual I think automatic only would be fine and probably lead to get getting on the road quicker. Any views?
  • Range Rover, Discovery,Defender - Land Rover Mania 30 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Similarly with the Discovery Tv6 s reputation for blowing engines and other reliabilty nightmares the workshops in this part of the midlands are full of broken down LRs leading to long waits to get them fixed. Can someone explain this madness ? LRs are rarely seen in Australia or the Middle East where reliability can be a matter of life or death !
  • Seat Leon ST - Seat Leon satnav 23 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Got a Seat Leon ST for work, 67 plate, and to my annoyance the built in satnav does not have up to date maps. It is missing the new sections of M8 leading into Glasgow and the A725 Raith Underpass which both opened in February 2017. Does anyone else here have a Seat and do your maps seem out of date also? I've searched ponline and I seem to have the latest maps available which is very disappointing.
  • Toyota RAV4 2005 D4D - Which Oil? 15 Nov 2017 (Forum)
There seems to be a debate on line as to semi or fully synthetic oil, for this engine; with some saying fully synthetic will lead to increased oil consumption. Any thoughts?

  • ford fiesta 1.25 zetec (2000) - Ford Fiesta engine misfire 5 Aug 2014 (Forum)
I have a ford fiesta 1.25 zetec that has suddenly developed a misfire on number 3 cylinder. I have checked the plugs and all ok, I have replaced the leads and coil pack but has made no difference at all. When I looked at the plugs they were all the correct biscuity colour apart from number 3 which was black, sooty and dry. Any advice on what could be wrong will be greatly appreciated.
