  I have water accumulating in the plenum chamber which houses the battery. Presumably it is a blocked drain hole but to access it I need to remove the battery. Haynes implies I can disconnect the battery without a problem (I do know the radio code). Can anyone confirm that this car doesn?

  Hi I have a 16 year old Celica with a 5 year old Exide battery (date shown on the battery). I have only had the car for 6 weeks. Now when I tried to start the car today, the battery was dead although I did a short journey 3 days ago without problem.   I have an old Colt that my daughter used to learn in way, way back. She returned the car last year - and like an i****, I didn't keep it ticking over, so now the battery is completely dead (and probably loads of other issues I don't know yet!). I thought I'd give it a charge, so went to take the battery out - the terminals came off fine, but the battery doesn't have an 'over' battery clamp, but what appears to be a clamp at the base of the battery.

  Have a intermitent issue with a vw lupo one litre. the car has a new battery. when leaving the car the battery can go flat in a day. sometimes it can be left and it charges ok. the battery is good and it starts up. carried out some checks after a flat battery and the alternator was pushing out just over 12.5volts. this was witht he battery completly flat and jump starting the car.

  Hi. Battery (2.5yrs old) suddenly died today, I did have the radio on (not full ignition) for a couple of hours prior to trying to start, within three attempts of turning it over the battery was completely flat.

  My daughter had a 'friend' fit a new stereo to her Peuguot 206 and immediately the battery started to go flat ie the car wouldn't start. A mechanic checked the battery and alternator and said everything was fine. Problem reoccured so we purchased a new battery. That was about 2 weeks ago - for the first few days fine and lovely - no probs.
