  Sunday, driving to the Gym, and at the first roundabout saw what looked like a 6 year old standing on the back seat with head and shoulders out of the car. behind daddy who was driving. At the next roundabout, pulled alongside and politely informed driver that his child was in danger.. 40 mph limit by the way.

  Walking around the Lancaster, and the Avro Vulcan was a joy, and seeing in the flesh the various smaller planes that feature in some of the books i have been reading over the years was intersesting too. a few old cars and support vehicles to see as well, also a lot of"  modern" kit, Lightnings etc on show.   And all currently free.

  I normally have it done at a Toyota specialist, however I am aware the main dealer now gives a rolling warranty if serviced by them. Cost with the dealer is £190 versus around £115 with the Indy. So is it worth the extra? The car has 66k and is coming 7 years old. It has been very reliable over the past 5 years of ownership.

  Just off to pick up DIL s Yaris auto after an mot and service. Its 22 years old and a Mk 1 built in Japan and it passed ok apart from a replacement wiper blade. These early examples are really amazing and must set the standard for a cheap sub £1000 first car. Even HJ himself chose one for his mum!
• Any - PAS fluid - change? 20 Feb 2020 (Forum)
  I can't find any suggestion that routine maintenance should include changing PAS fluid.  My Pug 306 is now 25 years old, and I'm sure auto-transmission fluid (the same stuff) would have been replaced during that time.  I doubt that will have happened to this car, though it has been properly serviced.  Of course PAS fluid doesn't get hot during use, so any suggestions ?

  “Scrubbers” The cure for crabbing C43’s is switch to 18” wheels. MB paid for mine when I complained about the behaviour of the car on 19s. They provided the alternate fitment MB wheels and tyres FOC. I still have them as the new owner of my 3yr old C43 preferred the look of the original fit 19’s.... I am open to offers!

  This might be the most boring and nicest update at the same time. Car absolutely faultless.  Bags of room, comfortable and excellent driving position. Fuel economy acceptable. doing house renovation has carried 8 foot fence posts, lots of bags of post mix. taking the old flooring to the recycling etc etc.

  My wife wants to take her 28 months old great-niece somewhere, and is going to borrow a proper child seat with which to carry her. I said that although the proper car seat is a good idea, she could probably use the pull down section in the centre of the rear seat, which has its own seat belt.

  I need an economical car for a 40 mile daily commute that will on occasion accommodate my wife and three tall teenagers - Possibly even for European holidays? Currently we use a Fiat Panda, mainly for my commute, and a Honda Shuttle (old but good) for the family.

  I just got in my car to drive and it seemed to shudder whilst driving then I noticedthe warning light on. I had only driven for a minute so just went back home. Any idea what it could be? it's nearly 8 years old but is regularly serviced. the last service was 3 months ago. it's done about 55k miles

  Hi looking at buying the above car with 50k miles on it 4 yrs old - 2011 model noticed it's only had 2 services to date ( one Audi dealer the other an independant ) Wondered what's the service schedule/intervals?? I'd have expected more services in the book.

  Looking at options for insuring my 18 year-old son whilst he has a provisional licence. Among the options is the afore-mentioned insurance company, which provides short-term cover for supervised driving in (usually) their parent's car. Seems a good idea, bearing in mind that the 'lessons' may be a bit sporadic but in 'clusters'.

  The car was bought 2 years old and has been well looked after. Total mileage is 147,443 but over the past few months engine oil consumptiion has increased markedly  (it used negligible amounts till then).
• VW Golf Mk4 - Temperature Gauge Failure 18 Oct 2013 (Forum)
  Last night the temperature gauge on my nine year old Golf failed to register. There was no problem with the coolant level.  On the return journey there was the same problem but after about 10 miles the gauge suddenly registered correctly. There is no point in taking the car to a garage with a non existant problem but I wonder what could have happened and am I likely to break down without warning?

  Can anyone advise... My car was hit a copuple of years ago with no fault to myself  My insurance company say i have an additional claim that I dont recognise   I've contacted my old company, who have put,in writing, that they don't recognise the claim my new company say is on my claims history.

  No not the poster although those that know me might think so!! Car is approaching 3 years old and with the cold weather the crank is quite slow to the point that I am thinking about replacing the battery, but they last longer than that don't they? Which makes me think it could be charging system (though lights are fine) or starter motor, both of which are under warrantee.

  Hi My daughter is about to buy her first car, and quite likes the Pug 206 (as her mum has one).  personally, I don't, but I'll not be driving it. It will probably be ten years old, for £1000 and 60k - 80k miles.  What problems should I specifically look out for when I go and see advertised examples?
