Watchdog 20/10/11 26 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Anybody see Watchdog this week with the segment about the DPF's? If you didnt see it there was nothing that we hadnt heard before and was essentially the same thing we've been saying for ages to all buyers who come on here asking for advice. Its interesting how its taken the nations foremost staple of consumer advice programming so long to pick up on it. -
Vauxhall Astra Twintop 1.9 150 Design - Spanner warning Light 23 Sep 2011 (Forum)
The peddle test revealed trouble code relating to the PDF P2452. I took the car out for a few long journeys to give the DPF chance to regenerate to no avail. Long story but I've been back and forth to Thorney Motorsport, they have carried out diagnostics, regenerated the PDF, changed a PDF sensor and updated the ECU. -
Peugeot 307 2.0 HDi 110 - Peugeot 307 2.0 HDi 110 down on power 18 Jun 2011 (Forum)
So far I have replaced the MAF, MAP sensor on the intercooler, air filter, oil filter and oil and cleaned out the DPF. All of this has improved the performance but its still slow! I'm all out of ideas now, has anyone else got any suggestions? I have a Peugeot planet diagnostic and the engine is no longer reporting any faults, is there anything I can test using the diagnostic? -
Vauxhall Insignia - Faulty Flywheel on Insignia CDTI 160ps Ecoflex 30 Apr 2010 (Forum)
I left it to a dealership to look at and they tried at first to tell me that it was an issue with the DPF, however, after driving it in traffic, they agreed that it was definately clutch related and stripped out the clutch and gearbox. I got a call earlier this week to tell me that the Dual Mass Flywheel was faulty and would need tobe replaced, however it seems that they are now on back oreder all across Europe. -
Skoda Octavia I (1998 - 2004) - 03 1.9 Tdi... solid? 28 May 2009 (Forum)
He has found an 03 1.9 TDi from the same specialist garage (clearly an excellent place) that supplied the T, fsh and clean as a whistle but nearly 100,000 miles. Is the 1.9 Tdi unit decently solid or not? I doubt if the car has a DPF, but does it have one of these absurdly fragile dual mass flywheels, and is there any risk of the fuel pump going? It will spend quite a lot of time not being used, and most of the use it gets will be pootling. -
Peugeot 307 - Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 03 110, Anti Pollution 4 Jul 2019 (Forum)
The antipollution fault light came up after the car was not picking up speed and would barely get past 30mph. I've done the following so far :- - Added some Redex and DPF cleaner and taken it on a motorway run a few times @ 3000pm to try and give a kick. Did this for at least 20mins if not more and this seemed to help a little. The car can now get past 30mph on but still takes alot longer than normal. -
Renault Scenic - Help me value my Scenic? 11 Apr 2015 (Forum)
-Air-con isn't cold, and hasn't been since it went from freezing to nothing overnight two years ago. -Had the DPF innards removed 3 years ago (when still perfectly legal). Sailed through every MOT since, including one since DPF removal was banned but have to assume new owner will want to reverse this? -Currently on a SORN. -

BMW 3 Series - BMW e92 320i vs 320d buying advice 5 Jun 2025 (Forum)
The diesel has less mileage about 110k to the petrols 120k. The diesel is a much better spec so I’m tempted but I’ve heard horror stories about dpf and how short journeys can kill it, and occasionally I will be doing 50+ miles but day to day it’s going to be 25 min commute. Both are auto. Same price is the diesel a terrible idea. Or am I just scaring myself. -

VW Golf 1.6td se DSG 2013 - Cold Start issues 21 Mar 2018 (Forum)
otherwise, car runs fine, 55mpg on a run, no misfires or hesitations of any sort. Does the cold start activate the DPF? Car runs on a diet of ASDA, Sainsbury's, BP, Shell and ESSO. OIl is changed every 7-8k, using VW Quantum: 5w30 Long Life. Thanks for any replies. -

Toughest car ever made 4 Oct 2016 (Forum)
With all the talk of costly failures on modern turbo diesel cars. DPF, DMF & premature turbo failure, I'm hankering back to a simpler time. The days when a simple well maintained Diesel engine could cover massive mileages with little grief for owners. I've been in a Nissan Bluebird 2.0dLX with over 1m miles on its original engine, a Mk II Granada 2.5DL with more than 750k, Isuzu engined Cavaliers with 500k upwards, a Peugeot E7 HDI with 850k and I've sold a Toyota Carina 2.0 XLd with 452k which was running and driving fine. -
MK1 Focus 2.0 Petrol versus MK5 Golf 2.0 diesel 6 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I am looking to buy a MK5 Golf 2.0 GT (pre DPF) to replace my Focus 2.0 Zetec petrol. I do 12k milage a year and want the holy grail of more torque, power and economy. I am amazed at the torque difference on paper between the two (131 v 236 lb-ft), but the Golf is alot heavier (16%). -
Toyota Yaris - Horn not sounding 16 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Then two weeks later the car was booked in to have some work carried out for TSBs, I believe these relates to the DPF oil fire and air bag recall. My question is, is there anyway when the mechanic removed the steering wheels cover to access the air bag to inspect as part of TSB would have compromised the function of the horn. -
Toyota Yaris - Yaris 1.4 d4d for a 60 mile commute 11 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Should i consider a petrol version instead? I've never owned a diesel, but from what i've read DPF can be a problem, is that the case with the yaris? Many thanks for your help p.s. other cars i've considered Fiesta Zetec 1.6 tdci year 02-08 - i've read its gearing isn't suited to motorway mpg 107/aygo/c1 - I've read the small engines aren't suitable for motorway mileage, other than the C1 1.4 diesel. -
Mazda 6 2006 - No power/turbo 15 May 2015 (Forum)
I have changed oil and filter as it was due and thought this could of affected it, fault still there. Done a DPF forced regen and reset. Still no power. After doing the oil change I was sure the turbo kicked in for a very short period and I have just taken the car out again and no turbo. With foot flat to the floor just a slow gradual increase in speed as though is wasn't a turbo car. -
Will I get away with a diesel? 13 Dec 2014 (Forum)
I work generally work 7 days a week and trying to figure out if my driving pattern will be ok with a dpf 5 days a week I am local - so 2.5 miles to work. The other 2 days a week I am approx 40 miles away from home. the supermarkets/butcher are 5 miles away 2 times a month I travel to my in-laws who are 120 miles away, and once every couple of months I travel to my parents who live 220 miles away. -
Volvo V50 2.0 Diesel - Volvo V50 2.0 Diesel Model year October 2009 22 Sep 2014 (Forum)
I was thinking maybe the fuel filter requires draining but it has taken 4 months for the fault to reappear so this would seem unlikely. I have read reports of DPF sensor but the engine is not fitted with a particulate filter. Other comments have been the ERG valve whatever that is. Many thanks for attention Robin Grimmett -
Vauxhall Vectra V6 Diesel 2007 - Engine struggles on acceleration 3 Jun 2014 (Forum)
As this is an Isuzu 3ltr engine inspection at Vauxhall concluded it is not an engine they are familiar with and responded that it "could" be the DPF. Mileage is 57,000. The engine managment light comes on almost immediately after 2nd gear. It struggles going up a hill big time. A little bit of history....The oil light came on a few months ago and it resulted in a new oil switch, which was duly repaired.
