• Volkswagen Golf - Thinking of swapping Polo GTI for Golf. Advice nee 30 Dec 2022 (Forum)
  I have a Polo GTI 2018 and I am thinking of getting a 2018 Golf TSI Evo 1.5. Main reason is I would like a more fuel efficient car and some extra luxuries my Polo doesnt have like adaptive cruise control. Now I won’t have the same horse power but I am not sure which engine to go for should I got for the 1.5 130ps or the 1.0 115ps?

  SO WHAT COULD THIS BE? WHAT IS A NEEDLE LIFT SENSOR AND WHERE IS IT LOCATED? FAULT CODE IS P1242, THE FUEL FILTER LOOKS QUITE OLD BUT COULD THIS CAUSE THE PROBLEM AND THE FAULT CODE???    ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.   THANKS

  Needs to be petrol and preferably 1.2L. Would consider 1.6L if necessary. Trying to keep road tax and fuel costs as little as I can! The only thing I've found is a few Nissan Juke's which I'm not adverse to but fancy a different make if I can.  Spec needs to have bluetooth, DAB kind of level.

  I have taken the car to the dealer 3 times now and every time, they were said they couldn’t hear it. I have changed fuel from E10 unleaded to E5 Super unleaded as well, but no difference.   Is anybody to have owned the smallest diesel engine Rio on the market? I am think to buy this car, I have taken a test driver I like the car, I am aim to buy the most fuel efficiency rather the performance for my long driving to work as I am self-employment take medical tablets etc. to the hospitals in Southern of England, which I am average 120-190 miles per day. My currently car is Fiat Bravo 1.6 Mutljet Eco now is at 178,600 miles is start to leak oil from the crankcase seal it can be repair, but the bad rusty on the subframe is about time to look for another car.

  I argued this and spoke to the manager, who eventually told me that they do know its an issue with the fuel not going through, but thats all they know. Could this be related? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Thank you for any help you can give. S

  After my "experience" of the MG Zs it has been all plain sailing and nothing to complain about the Sportage. Stress free motoring, if not quite as light on fuel as the Zs. locally seemps to be 30-33 mpg which is entirely local short runs. So quite happy to have a large portion of humble pie to eat. I think that it (the Zs) has finally sold, showing as "delivered"!

  The latest figure I have seen is 70p per kwH, which, by my reckoning makes and EV about 30% more expensive to fuel than a hydrocarbon car. My reasoning is: Battery capacity on my PHEV - roundly 7kWh. Cost of home charging = 7 x 15p = £1.05 for 30 miles. Petrol cost for 30miles £1.11 per litre - @ 40mpg = approx - approx £3.75 Charging cost for 7kwh @ 70p per KwH = £4.90.

  I am switching from an Auris Hybrid as I have had my catalytic converter stolen recently and not confident that it won't keep happening in the part of London I work in, so I was looking for a reliable auto with reasonable fuel economy and where the cat is not located where it is dead easy for scum bags to steal in seconds! From what I have read Civic auto gearboxes and Civiic's in general seem to be very reliable but does anyone know if they are good in terms of general security or are they also a magnet for thieves?

    Otherwise the spec list looks fairly similar, However the GT Line DCT Petrol is All Wheel drive and will probebly use More fuel.   The reason I am going for petrol is that i live in london and do not take many long journeys.   Please share your opinions about the pro's and con's of each of these cars, and at the Price i have managed to negotiate (Around £23k) is there better options in the SUV??

  Both sensible and similarly sized. One has 3 yr warranty, one has 7 yr warranty. One will be more economical fuel wise. Something to think about?  £22k for the Suzuki vs £21.500 for the Kia.  My figures might be a few quid out but you get the gist of what I'm saying.

  A few weeks ago we had the fuel filter replaced and when the garage carried out a road test afterwards they noticed a vibration in the steering wheel when the wheel was turned left. Previously we had noticed this vibration but didn’t think it was anything of note.

  Ive had a Ford Mondeo for 2 years from 5k miles (Ford Direct Car) its now done 70k miles mostly on the motorway. Ive had 3 Fuel Vapourisers & 1 Alternator in 24 months all under Warranty. Its an Automatic 210 twin turbo. Not really that quick either.  Now the Flywheel (yes it does have one) has gone (still drivable) and it all needs replacing they have quoted me £2000.

  How long will that car last. Presumably the owner is running the thing on a shoe string using what he thinks is cheap fuel. As I asked in the title, mad or idiot? Would the DVSA be interested I wonder?

  when it starts it revs at 1300 unless I throttle it ,it judders and feesll ike the engine is going to fall out.so I throttle it and stay at 60 or 70 or in a  higher gear through the streets or it judders like hell .when idle it revs at 13 to 1500 and sounds like it is hunting.I have changed the air mass sensor(used one) thats connected the plastic pipe that connects to the airfilter and carb looking thing.I took off the egr valve cleanded it still no improvement.when it is juddering the engine mangement light comes on and been told it is running on safety mode and uses more fuel. any advice would be helpful please this girl needs her car to go to Munich in a few months.And I am lost without it please advise me ty x

  After the "fun" I had hiring in Dublin a few weeks ago, have researched for a week in Italy, A car for 6 days is £170 plus fuel plus tolls, plus parking and also with the limitations and also entry into some locations. Bus airport to bergamo, (2 nights) train bergamo-verona (4 nights) for 2 about £25, will probably go to Padua and to the lakes from bergamo and verona. all transport less tha £100.
• Peugeot 306 starting then cutting out 19 May 2017 (Forum)
  Hi, just wondering if anyone can help, i have a Peugeot 306 dturbo and it has been off the road for a few weeks now woth a problem that we cant work out the cause of, the car will start and run for 6sec them cut out, there is power shutting off to the lift pump in the tank so we tried running a constant live but same problem occurred, i have tried blanking off single injectors one by one to see if one is loosing pressure but everything seems fine, a few times we have started the car it has ran for around 40sec to a min without stopping but then after it cuts out its back to just 6 sec Have had the car on a diagnostic machine and it says fuel pump primary circuit but we cant work out quite what that means, we have also tried new stop solenoid! Any suggestions on what to try? Thanks
