  This sort of thing crops up from time to time and was mentioned in HJ's letters page a few years back.  It's a miracle fuel additive that improves consumption and engine life.   Many modern cars offer the feature of displaying instant fuel economy (eg. mpg, L/100 km etc.) How does it calculate the value? Is it a very complex formula involving some jaw dropping equations or just a preset value based on RPM, gear etc.?

  I have a 2003 Citroen Dispatch (a recent purchase). I'm giving it a service, but I cannot work out how to change the fuel filter. It's Hdi engine with Bosch injection. Can anyone describe how to get the canister open please?

  My high mileage Astra 1.7dti (2000W) seems to have started making a high pitched whine when the engine is just idling. I think it is coming from the fuel pump. It disappears as soon as I start driving. Is this anything to worry about? Thanks for any advice

  a friend of mine told me his brother had water in his fuel filter on his car. the dealer told him sometimes you can fill up at supermarkets and have this problem he filled up at tesco. do they use the cheapest petrol around and dont check there tanks for water.

  Apparently when they turned on the ignition the guage was under the red line and trip computer said 0 miles they give it some diesel and bled the fuel line and it strated no problem. Ford then give me a ring saying that it stopped because i run out of fuel!!!! I said that according to the guage there was fuel in there when i was driving it not even the red light had come on.
