  • Disappearing Filling Stations 2 May 2006 (Forum)
It seems that the rising cost of fuel is forcing on average 11 filling stations to close every week, which totalled almost 600 last year.!!!! If this trend continues or escalates, we`ll all be back to a pony & trap.!!!!!! http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/65918/soaring_fuel_prices_threaten_to_force_drivers_off_road.html

  • 60 Tonne Double Artics 14 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I suppose as long as they keep to the M ways there will be little effect although they are 25M long. The idea of course is to save fuel.
  • Polo AEF Diesel 20 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Can anyone advise me where the fuel cut off valve is on this model? Is it below the plastic cover, with 3 wires protruding (imobiliser I think), on the injection pump throttle control? Also where do I find the 50A glow plug fuse? Thanks

  • BMW 316ti Problem 17 Sep 2004 (Forum)
When the car is started from cold, it is very spluttery\' (as if the choke hadn\'t been out for long enough!) and noisy. Once it has warmed up, it still seems \'flat\' and as if it is in need of fuel. Any ideas??
  • Computer accuracy - Honda 12 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Does anybody know if the computer generated fuel consumption figures are supposed to be accurate. On my Honda the computer mpg is approx 7% optimistic. Do other makes of cars give similar readings? I have assumed that the computer figures are there to give users a feel good factor.
  • laguna 2.2 diesel tickover adjustment 22 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Can someone inform me how to adjust the injection (fuel flow) to my Laguna. I feel someone adjusted it (I have higher revs now)to improve its performance. This has caused cold starting to be a problem. Many thanks.

  • Was diesel cheaper than petrol 28 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Is it my imagination, but did diesel used to be cheaper than petrol in summer and slightly more expensive in winter when people bought heating oil? I was looking forward to cheaper fuel in summer. Oh well. On my 3rd Citroen. Saxo, Xsara, C5.
  • Shell Optimax 24 Oct 2002 (Forum)
My car seems to run better on Optimax but then stays that way for a tank or two when I fill (from empty!) with 95 ron fuel.
  • The budget 14 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Here goes... 2p on unleaded 3p on diesel VAT up to 19% - which adds yet more your fuel and your purchase / running costs. Road Fund licences up 10%. All "to fund the NHS" which now spends something like 55% of it's revenues on administration.
  • Lambda Sensor 7 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Is it this that detects too much unburnt fuel in the exhaust as a result of cold start then stop? If so, how does it detect it? I thought it detected oxygen, not hydrocarbons. Also, if it packs up, then engine can still run, so how does it tell the ecu to shut down firing?
  • LPG 4 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Does anyone have any real experience of the savings possible? Also is there a web site for LPG which lists where fuel is available Dominic
  • Saxo - Loss of power 24 Mar 2001 (Forum)
When the fuel indicator on my 1.1i Saxo reads below about half (not sure if this is to be trusted!) I experience a loss of power on cornering, as though the petrol is sloshing away from the inlet valve. This can be quite dangerous at times.

  • which drivers' car for commute? 25 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I've shortlisted the following: Focus / Mazda 3 1.6 diesel - have driven and liked both but my budget would involve highish mileages and concerns about diesel reliability As above but 2.0 petrol - not sure if I'd get near 40mpg on my town & country commute Previous gen Civic 2.0 Type S - fuel economy again? Current gen civic 1.8 petrol - not sure if in budget without mega miles? Accord 2.0 petrol, Mazda 6 1.8 or 2.0 petrol, Mondeo 1.8 or 2.0 petrol - fuel economy? Any opinions or thoughts on my conundrum?
