  • Jaguar Land Rover launches classic driving experience 3 Oct 2017 (News)
    A new driving event that puts drivers at the wheel of some of the best-loved classic Jaguars and Land Rovers has been launched. The event, which is run by Jaguar Land Rover Classic, is held at the 5000-acre estate at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire. Visitors will tackle thick mud and challenging slopes in some of the vehicles that helped establish Land Rover, like an early Series 1 and a Range Rover Classic. Once guests are finished testing some of Land Rover’s most iconic vehicles on the Eastnor estate, they’ll be able to take to the wheel of some Jaguar legends.
  • Dacia launches scrappage scheme on Duster 15 Sep 2017 (News)
    Trade-in cars must be Euro 4 standard or older, registered by 31 December 2009 and owned in the customer's name for more than 90 days. The scheme will run until 31 December 2017. It's not available on the basic Access model, but the Ambiance is available with a £1750 saving on finance, while the - the SE Summit - comes with a £2250 saving on finance.
  • Exhibition to mark 50 years of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale 5 Sep 2017 (News)
    The car, which is known for its blend of technology and racing mechanics, was limited to a production run of only a handful. Today, prices for one sit around the £2m mark. Designed by Franco Scaglione, the 33 Stradale was first seen on 31 August 1967 - on the eve of the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Monza.
  • Future classics set for crusher after car makers launch scrappage schemes 22 Aug 2017 (News)
    It is the latest in a raft of manufacturer-backed schemes, with car makers like Mercedes, BMW and Mini recently introducing diesel-only scrappage schemes. Vauxhall has also had a scrappage scheme running on and off for the past few years. Top Ten: Cars killed by the scrappage scheme However, Government plans for a diesel scrappage scheme are still ongoing – with a further review promised later in the year.
  • Bugatti Type 37 set for Coys auction 7 Jun 2017 (News)
    Gahagan was well established in the classic car world, being involved in the early days of the Vintage Sports Car Club and running the classic restoration business Rees Brothers of Aldershot in Hampshire. He campaigned his Type 37 at numerous hill climbs, time and speed trials, including the Prescott Hill Climb, Goodwood, Brighton Speed Trials, and Silverstone track on over 20 occasions from 1949 through to 1992.
  • Silverstone Classic 2017: Jaguar royalty to join XJ220 celebrations 25 May 2017 (News)
    The two leading lights were recently reunited at Don Law Racing in Staffordshire, the family-run business that is responsible for keeping XJ220’s on the road. Law currently has 22 XJ220s undergoing various renovations, some with just delivery mileage on their odometers. Law will be curating the record display and parade at Silverstone in July.
  • Competition cars set for Flywheel 3 Apr 2017 (News)
    Visitors will get to see an array of eye-watering machinery, including a 1934 Frazer Nash ‘Norris Special’ which is still running an engine that was fitted in 1948. It’s competed in more than 450 events since then and is still going strong. Also due to attend the event is a 1958 Triumph 3A (a car that was the regular of many period events).
  • Double celebration for Brooklands 17 Feb 2017 (News)
    Highlights of the re-opening will include a re-enactment of the original opening parade of 17 June, 1907, with veteran cars, displays and demonstrations of surviving Brooklands racing cars and motorcycles, and taxying runs by some of the museum’s historic aircraft. The well-established format of three separate competitive events of the Double Twelve continues with a sprint, driving tests and concours d’élégance held over two days, with aggregate scores from any two going towards overall Double Twelve awards.
  • Donington Historic set for April 2017 5 Dec 2016 (News)
    Donington Historic Festival will be held in April next year as the event gets a major revamp. With a restored infield and a refreshed paddock now up and running, the festival will now be held on 28-30 April 2017. The theme of this year’s event – the seventh consecutive Donington Historic Festival - is ‘get involved’.

  • Frankfurt Motor Show 2015: Hyundai to preview performance-focused ‘N’ models 27 Aug 2015 (News)
    Hyundai has yet to formally announce which of its models is to get the ‘N’ treatment first but the i20 would be a good bet, considering the current popularity of hot hatchbacks. Hyundai has also given the model plenty of publicity by running one in the World Rally Championship. Aside from the WRC car, the other big star on Hyundai’s stand will be the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept car – a futuristic supercar concept (pictured below) that will be available to drive in the Gran Turismo PS3 game, but isn’t set to go into production.  Finally there will be a high-performance version of the axed Veloster, powered by a 300PS 2.0-litre engine (pictured above).

    This Cat D BMW M3 is estimated to fetch £12,000-£16,000 at ACA sale The current owner says it’s seen little use over the past five years and while it runs it will need recomissioning. Expect to pay £12,000-£16,000 – which makes this an incredibly cheap M3. The 1988 M3 Europameister is one of just 148 examples built to commemorate BMW’s domination of the 1988 European Touring Car Championship.

  • Mercedes 540 K makes £2m at auction 30 Mar 2015 (News)
    Although the 540 K was the top seller, a 1931 770 ‘Grosser Mercedes’ Cabriolet D gave it a run for its money. The car, once owned by German actor and director Erik, sold for (£1,703,806). Elsewhere, four iconic 300SLs – both Gullwing coupés and roadsters – made strong money.
  • ‘As new’ Lancia Delta Integrale could make £110,000 at Race Retro auction 28 Jan 2015 (News)
    The car has only ever been driven on the road once – from the supplying dealer to the current owner, where it has remained in perfect storage conditions for the past 22 years. Finished in white with the iconic Martini livery, the car is one of a limited run of 400 that were made to celebrate the Integrale’s fifth consecutive World Rally manufacturers’ championship for Lancia. To improve the car’s handling, the ‘Evoluzione’ homologation specials featured a wider track at both the front and rear than earlier Deltas.
