Recommend a car 25 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Need a bigger car due to recent new arrival in the family. Currently driving a small 1.4 petrol and looking to move to something with a lot mor eroom in the back and a much bigger boot. Do about 9k a year and will mostly be driving in and around the city. Not overly fussed on any particular badge, all recommendations welcome. -

Honda Civic - all season tyres front, summer back? 22 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Is there anything inherently wrong with putting some all season tyres on the front (front wheel drive) and summer tyre son the back? I was thinking of driving to the Alps and the summer tyres I have are apparently awful in the snow, they don;t have much cross tread on them. -

Chrysler Voyager - Voyager 2.5 TD jumpy 1 Sep 2011 (Forum)
When driving our voyager as it gets just around 2000 rpm it starts lurching and jumping, followed by some black smoke exiting the exhaust. It does this in all gears. It drives fine, then jumps, then again, and can this 4 or 5 times in a row, then stops, and then starts again when accelerating. -

Quick DGS "Manual Auto" question? 29 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Does the clutch take up when you select drive and give you "creep" like a torque converter auto or does it only take up when you press the accelerator? (meaning that with the handbrake on you would select drive, gently press the accelerator, feel the clutch take up and then release the handbrake to pull away) -

Polo Auto keeps cutting out 22 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Wife has a R reg VW Polo automatic, once in a while when driving slowly or coming to a stop the engine would cut out. For the last two days it has been happening quite regulary, even when driving 5mph in traffic. It was serviced a month ago. Could it be the automatic gears or is it a battery fault. -

Limited slip diffs -- worth it? 6 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Does anyone have experience of using a car with and without a limited slip differential? Question is asked with a view to using an LSD-equipped car (front-drive 75-25 split) in moderate snow conditions as an alternative to a four-wheel-drive. The package in question also gives a 30mm lift to about 190mm ground clearance and Michelin Synchrone tyres. -
TDdi vs TDci 3 May 2006 (Forum)
I'm considering purchasing a Tddi, however, it's cheap from one of these supermarkets and I can't actually test-drive it. It's in mint condition, but how different to drive will it be to Mum's 05 TDci 130 Mondeo Ghia? Will it be louder and rattle more? Obviously it'll be a bit slower, being 15bhp down, but I was more concerned with mechanical refinement...
