Mitsubishi Colt Red 2005 - Mitsubishi Colt 2005 battery clamp 10 Jun 2021 (Forum)
I have an old Colt that my daughter used to learn in way, way back. She returned the car last year - and like an i****, I didn't keep it ticking over, so now the battery is completely dead (and probably loads of other issues I don't know yet!). -
Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - 05 2.2 VSA light on: Dealer wants 1600 quid. 31 May 2020 (Forum)
The dealer has told me that my VSA module is at fault and needs to be replaced. The orange VSA warning light is on the dashboard. The car is 3.5 years old (44k and full dealer history), and to have a £1600 quid quote is shocking (200 is labour). I've spoken to Honda UK who have help reduce the bill down to £1000. Still shocking though. -
BMW - What are BMW thinking 21 Feb 2020 (Forum)
I used to like BMW's I've had a few of them a 1986 325i saloon was my first then 2 1991 325i saloons then my favourite of all a 1993 325i convertible. I still have a soft spot for old model BMW's but they've made nothing I like for a long time coming up for 15 years maybe it all started with the bangle era cars but even they look nice compared to some of their latest offerings. -
Dunno. Some kind of 125cc Yamaha - Scooter sans dipstick? 19 Nov 2019 (Forum)
I’ve read some cars (BMW 1-series IIRC) now rely solely on a level-meter, but I thought I’d be able to avoid that kind of crap for a few years yet. There was a plastic screw-in port covering the upper tappet (lower cover was metal) which I could have added oil through, but no obvious way of telling how much -
Volkswagen Golf - VW GOLF MK7 CLUTCH PLEASE 7 Nov 2019 (Forum)
With the engine off it will go into gear but is stuck in that position if you turn the engine on. The car is 3 years old with full VW service history. Always been driven sensibly. Occasionally parked on hill if that makes any difference. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be and if it is likely an expensive repair? -

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV - HPI Check - High Mileage Issue 2 May 2018 (Forum)
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this..... I'm interested in buying a new car from a private seller. It is four years old and was first registered in September 2014. The HPI check flagged up an unusual sequence of mileage. Within one month it has an RMI mileage of 53,664 (October 2014). -
Rover 25 1.4 Model - Petrol Year 2000. - inlet manifold gasket 8 Nov 2017 (Forum)
If its the head gasket which I don't think it is as theirs no sludge in resovoir water bottle. It is not worth repairing as car is 18 years old. Time and likely cost to repair the heater. regards Delysia -
Ford Galaxy - Roof Bars 13 Jul 2017 (Forum)
Our mk3 Ford roofbars seem to clamp onto the opposite side of the fixed rails (external side) to that of the new model, however Halfords, Thule etc all use the same foot pack for both models from what I have seen online. Has anyone re-used their old roof bars on the newer model or know 100% if they are compatible or not. I would just try them however I will need them straight after the car handover so I need to buy some very soon if they will not fit. -
28 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Get that chassis steam cleaned in the spring then coated in something like Bilt Hambers underbody waxes and you will still be driving that old beastie round in 20 years when almost all cars made today will be heading back hence they came in cube form, you will struggle to find an ecu anywhere on it and they were built to last and made to be serviced easily and worked on, so easy to keep them running. -
Volkswagen Golf - Should I risk the DSG (7speed) 22 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I heard that the 7 speed wears out faster due to dry clutch. Any opinions on the 7 speed? I'm looking at buying a 1 year old car with around 10-15k miles on it. Another option would be Ford Focus with powershift. Any thoughts appreciated. I'm only really interested in reliability, after my Toyota with MMT twice proved a near death trap (even after expensive repairs), suddenly locking into neutral on motorway (with baby in the back seat!). -
Renault Grand Scenic - water flooding into footwell 23 Jun 2016 (Forum)
Hi everyone, Hoping someone could help/advise on this issue. I have an 18 month old Renault Grand Scenic, still under guarantee. Following heavy rainfall, there was strange whistling noise from the air vents. Water then began pouring into both driver and passenger footwells. -
VW Passat - Buying a used VW - Should I worry about recall? 1 Jun 2016 (Forum)
Is this emissions issue really as bad as the press make out? Should I continue with buying the car? -
KIA Venga - Dealer salesman ignoring what we want! 29 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I took my old friend with the chevrolet aveo along to our local Kia dealer to enquire about a venga. In 3 years he has done the princely total of about 15000 miles. Salesman, all of 2 weeks in the job insisted that a diesel would be perfect! -
Nissan X-Trail - Probably a stupid tyre question 2 Nov 2015 (Forum)
You can't put 16inch tyres on a new xtrail right? Just need someone to confirm I'm not being stupid and just suck it up, sell on the old winter tyres and buy new 17 or 19 inch ones. Pirelli Scorpion Winter tyres look a good bet? -
Honda CRV i-Vtec 2002 - Cold starting and judder 10 Sep 2015 (Forum)
My 13 year-old Honda CRV (petrol), 67,000 miles, owned from new, has become less easy to start in the cold weather and runs 'rich' when it starts; it is difficult to achieve a smooth clutch release until the engine has warmed-up (after a minute or two). -
Mercedes-Benz A-Class - Diesel Hatchback choice 21 Jan 2015 (Forum)
My other half is looking at a Mercedes Benz A class (amongst others), 6 months to a year old in either A180 or A200 guise. She does the mileage to justify a diesel and wants a car with a really nice spec. Are there any issues with them and are they MB engines fitted to them? An alternative is the Mazda 3 2.2 Skyactiv diesel which has an excellent spec but I know nothing about the reliability of the latest diesels - I know the others had some issues. -
Ford Focus - Hesitancy on accelerating after slowing down 16 Dec 2014 (Forum)
In the old days of carburettors, I’d have suggested a blocked jet. As the journey continues, so the kangarooing does, and sometimes, eventually the big red exclamation mark inside a cog wheel “imminent disaster” warning light comes on. -
