  • A Grand Monday: 1988 Mazda 121 26 Jun 2015 (News)
We love the fabulous ’80s-style striped upholstery found inside this 121. Perhaps more important to a potential buyer, however, is the fact that the car is MoT’d until July 2016 and is ready to be enjoyed as a show car or unusual daily user. The Mazda can be viewed in Stourbridge, West Midlands, by prior appointment with the vendor. Oh, and he tells us that only caring new homes will be considered!
  • Porsches in demand at Race Retro sale 26 Feb 2015 (News)
While a trio of stunning Italian sports cars grabbed the pre-sale headlines, it was the cars from Stuttgart that consistently performed well on the day. A 964 Carrera 4, first registered in 1990, made £38,250 - £6250 over its top estimate.
  • Auction Values of BMW 1 Series Set To Drop 25 Feb 2010 (News)
BMW has turned down a claim by the owner of a 2005 BMW 120D in which the ABS/DSC module failed, leaving the customer with a bill of £1,613 + fitting. This is around 20% of the value of the car. The reason for rejecting his claim to goodwill over the cost of this safety-related part is that the customer bought the car used from a car supersite and, though it had been serviced by BMW dealers and an 'Approved' BMW service specialist, BMW felt that the history of the car did not justify any goodwill at all towards the repair.

Its range of cars, between six months and three-years-old, included MPVs, small hatchbacks and executive saloons. No rust. It’s ready for immediate use or with very little work would make a great show car.’ There are few minor points to consider. There are light cracks in the dashboard and some stonechips in the paint. But the worst bit is a non-matching paint repair around the rear aerial mount.

The messing link I have owned my 2010 VW Polo SEL 1.2 TSI since it was six months old with 2,800 miles on the clock. The car is now four and a half years old and has done 22,000 careful miles with all servicing carried out at the correct intervals. In recent months I have noticed a rattling noise from the engine for about 3 seconds or so on start up from cold (more noticeable in cold weather).

  • A Grand Monday: Ford Mondeo 25 Oct 2016 (News)
Despite being 23 years old, it still looks fresh and modern, and is still a decent car to drive, too, making it ideal as a usable family classic. It was also a brilliant car when new – a deserved European car of the Year winner, and a model that completely transformed public perceptions of Ford’s ability to engineer well-made and fine handling cars after the PR disaster that was the Mk 4 Escort.
  • A Grand Monday: Retro Renault 11 for £400 12 Oct 2015 (News)
The seller says, ‘It currently has a blowing exhaust in the front section, probably could do with a couple of lower ball joints (which are readily available for little money), and the front brake pipes could do with checking as these were a previous advisory on the last MOT, but that should be it.’ As with any old car that’s been stood a while, the carb could do with adjustment as the choke can stick, which causes the revs to rise. We reckon a good service wouldn’t go amiss, either. The seller adds, ‘I bought the car with some very questionable additional electrical installations and have stripped all these out and returned the car to original condition.
