  • Pristine Matching Numbers Aston Martin DB5 in Historics 22nd September Auction. 14 Aug 2018 (News)
This TD21 automatic has been owned since 2009 by the vendor who has enjoyed it immensely and had the brakes overhauled by Red Triangle 500 miles ago. Considering the fact that a similar car sold for £150,000 in Historics Ascot sale last year, this one is very conservatively estimated at £54,000 t0 £62,000.
  • Restored Alfa Romeo Montreal set for NEC auction 6 Mar 2018 (News)
Originally finished in Luci del Bosco Metallizato, this Montreal has been upgraded with Bilstein shocks, four-pot front brake callipers, two radiator fans, and a stainless-steel exhaust. • Drunk and unconscious Tesla driver claims car was driving itself 8 Feb 2018 (News)
Unsurprisingly, he was promptly arrested and charged with suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. The 'self-driving' capability of a Tesla allows the car to steer, change lanes, control braking and even parallel park itself. But, despite these impressive features, the car is not fully autonomous. The current incarnation of autopilot on Tesla vehicles will not simply take unresponsive drivers on their merry way.
  • Curios: Ford Supervan 9 Jan 2018 (News)
With all that grunt, some serious work was needed to make sure it could get around bends and stop. Upgraded brakes came from a CanAm race car while wider wheelarches meant 15in Firestone racing tyres could be fitted. The original transit seat was replaced with a Corbeau racing harness – to prevent the driver falling out, presumably.
  • Rare Porsche 911 up for sale 19 Sep 2017 (News)
The Sport version boasted a stripped out interior, while the Touring was more refined and comfortable, but retained all the performance. It uses a 3.6-litre air-cooled engine, has lowered and stiffened suspension, plus uprated brakes from the Turbo. Finished in black with a black interior, the 911 RST features Sport leather seats with triple colour inlays, a top tinted windscreen and a sunroof. Early in its life, the car had the catalytic converter removed and was fitted with a performance chip.
  • Learners to get motorway lessons from 2018 14 Aug 2017 (News)
.  Independent road safety charity IAM RoadSmart has welcomed the move, saying it will "d eliver confident new drivers who are much better able to cope with complex smart motorways”. However, road safety charity Brake has questioned the law change by saying there should be a legal requirement for all newly-qualified drivers to receive mandatory motorway lessons once they've passed their test.    The news comes as  research shows  that the number of 17-year olds taking the practical driving test has fallen by more than 100,000, since 2007/08, while the overall number of young people (17-25) in the UK learning to drive has plummeted by 20 per cent.
  • A Grand Monday: Citroen GSA 14 Aug 2017 (News)
What's more important is that the current keeper has renewed all of the hydraulic components, overhauled the brakes, changed the all-important cambelt, refurbished the petrol tank and carried our repairs to some particularly awkward structural areas, such as the screen surround, A-pillars, headlamp panel and front scuttle.
  • Edd China puts wacky racers on show at Beaulieu 25 Jul 2017 (News)
Casual Loafer did even better as it topped 37mph, with Edd controlling the car using its pizza steering wheel, beer can brake lever and gear selector topped with a chocolate bar. A Community Speedwatch speed camera measured the speeds of these oddball contraptions. Visitors met and chatted with Edd, before heading inside the museum to see the rest of the Wacky Record Breakers exhibition, featuring more off-the-wall automotive oddities created by inventors Edd China and Colin Furze.
  • A Grand Monday: Lada 1200 19 Jun 2017 (News)
But on the plus side, it's all there. According to the vendor, the engine and gearbox are working fine although both the brakes and bodywork are in need of attention. We'd never have guessed... It'll be an ambitious person that takes it on, but it'll also be someone who makes a significant contribution towards the preservation of both our automotive and social history.
  • October 2016 recall round up: Thousands of Jeep models called back over three different problems 2 Nov 2016 (News)
SsangYong is recalling 1433 examples of the Tivoli to fix a potential fuel leak, though no fire risk is associated with the problem. The rest of the recalls affect limited numbers of vehicles – 28 Porsche 911s need brake inspections, while 49 Smart ForTwos may roll away when unattended because of an auto transmission problem. There are a few more recalls too, on Peugeot 308, Fiat Panda and the Mercedes-Benz GLC.
  • A Grand Monday: Ford Mondeo 25 Oct 2016 (News)
The car comes with original Ford accessory mudflaps and dealer number plates, and has a good MoT history, with just one advisory at its last test for brakes, so it’d be worth getting these checked out. Otherwise, it appears to be in fine fettle, with all of its original Ocean Grey paintwork and, according to the vendor, no visible rust. It has covered 62,000 miles from new, with just two previous owners, both based in London.

  • A Grand Monday: Retro Renault 11 for £400 12 Oct 2015 (News)
The seller says, ‘It currently has a blowing exhaust in the front section, probably could do with a couple of lower ball joints (which are readily available for little money), and the front brake pipes could do with checking as these were a previous advisory on the last MOT, but that should be it.’ As with any old car that’s been stood a while, the carb could do with adjustment as the choke can stick, which causes the revs to rise.

  • A Grand Monday: Porsche 924S 17 Feb 2014 (News)
It's an original, honest example, complete, with an immaculate interior, good service history, new brakes and premium tyres all round.  All that seems to let it down is that insurance status - and a few stone chips and one or two other battle scars. It's clearly owned by an enthusiast - he has nine cars - and thanks to those blemishes, that price is surely going to be a little negotiable.

Barons has it pegged at £10,000-12,000, which potentially looks good value for someone who wants to finish this one themselves. A 1962 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II, which outwardly looks lovely, having spent much of its life in California, is described as 'all-original  and now requires some TLC'.
