New Volkswagen Golf GTI revealed 27 Feb 2020 (News)

. Independent road safety charity IAM RoadSmart has welcomed the move, saying it will "d eliver confident new drivers who are much better able to cope with complex smart motorways”. However, road safety charity Brake has questioned the law change by saying there should be a legal requirement for all newly-qualified drivers to receive mandatory motorway lessons once they've passed their test. The news comes as research shows that the number of 17-year olds taking the practical driving test has fallen by more than 100,000, since 2007/08, while the overall number of young people (17-25) in the UK learning to drive has plummeted by 20 per cent. -
Edd China puts wacky racers on show at Beaulieu 25 Jul 2017 (News)
Casual Loafer did even better as it topped 37mph, with Edd controlling the car using its pizza steering wheel, beer can brake lever and gear selector topped with a chocolate bar. A Community Speedwatch speed camera measured the speeds of these oddball contraptions. Visitors met and chatted with Edd, before heading inside the museum to see the rest of the Wacky Record Breakers exhibition, featuring more off-the-wall automotive oddities created by inventors Edd China and Colin Furze. -

SsangYong is recalling 1433 examples of the Tivoli to fix a potential fuel leak, though no fire risk is associated with the problem. The rest of the recalls affect limited numbers of vehicles – 28 Porsche 911s need brake inspections, while 49 Smart ForTwos may roll away when unattended because of an auto transmission problem. There are a few more recalls too, on Peugeot 308, Fiat Panda and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. -
