  • Any - Vaseline as assembly lube? 31 May 2023 (Forum)
I'll use whats left of my SAE40 motor oil on other surfaces,, and then if the engine actually runs, I have some diesel-only 10W40 that may or may not be OK in an SI engine long term (havn't found any info on that) but I'd guess should be OK as a short term "flush", so the vaseline (thermally stable?)

  • Pot Holes 14 Apr 2023 (Forum)
Besides the cars needing roadside assistance because of damage there must be plenty of other cars running with damage tyres and suspensions.  Weeks of delays in repairing our roads only causes more damage to motorists cars. and just another symptom of our declining country.

  • BMW 3 Series M3 - Repairing Suspension SubFrames 6 Jan 2023 (Forum)
He having searched the usual places online and most are no better than current one fitted. The M3 frame differs from the standard run of models. For a MOT pass can the bad areas be cut and removed then be plated and welded etc putting the strength back into the frame.
  • The early days of motor racing 26 Dec 2022 (Forum)
An almost total lack of any sort of safety considerations and cars which were incredibly physical to drive. Usually run over very long distances compared to most modern motor racing, there is one point where the commentator mentions an unusually short 23 mile lap!. Tyres narrower than on some current bicycles, braking would be primitive at best, ineffectual, and quite possibly only on the rear wheels!.
  • Mercedes CLK 200 Kompressor - Car left ticking over too long? 24 Jun 2022 (Forum)
After a recent new MAF sensor, the car had been running brilliantly. Really quick. However being French registered, it had to have its Controle Technique, and the slob who was doing this whilst chatting on his mobile phone, left my car ticking over for at least 40 minutes.
  • Is it a bad idea to buy a non electric car? 3 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Getting worried as hearing lots of negative things about non electric cars ie how gov want us all to go electric and will try and find ways to make it difficult to run a non electric car ie tolls, banned from city centers, higher taxes and that if you want to sell it in a few years it won't be worth much as everyone will be getting forced to by an electric.  What are people's thoughts?
  • Electric - £4'500 Bill 23 Nov 2021 (Forum)
ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531">Electric car drivers warned of battery mistakes that could land them £4,500 bill (msn.com)    As one of the customers I del to also confirmed the batteries in new electric cars are usually only guaranteed for 5 years, and, unlike diesel or petrol, if you do run out of juice then you have to wait for the recovery vehicle.    This is JUST THE COST OF THE BATTERIES, and they still have no way of recycling the batteries once they are no good, so not even eco friendly as the media would have you believe.
  • Audi A1 Sportback 1.0 tfsi - Epc warning light showing 3 Nov 2021 (Forum)
It has come on few times since but intermittently. It’s not the type of journey the car is used to. No sign of any restricted running or limp mode. Hasn’t come on at all today driving locally. Took it my local garage today who plugged it into whatever they plug it into and no errors were recorded or faults found. Do I need to take it to an Audi dealer for a more accurate diagnosis?
  • Yaris Vs Zoe - Used Yaris - £5-£6k or Renault Zoe £10k 7 May 2021 (Forum)
If it's a Yaris are there any models more suitable than others?  The car is being used for school runs and drop offs, about 7000 per annum mileage, 5 door, A.C would be a nice to have.  (Are there any models to avoid?)   Thank you.  From a novice
  • How much you drove since pandemic started? 10 Mar 2021 (Forum)

  • Ford Fiesta - Mk7 Fiesta 1.6 TDCI 14 Nov 2020 (Forum)
She probably only covers a couple thousand miles a year as it's a secondary car to us really. The 206 has come unreliable as the battery keeps dying if we don't run it for a week and she's always liked Fiesta's and this Titanium looks amazing in the hot magenta but obviously want to make sure it's right. Many thanks
  • Mitsubishi Colt 3-door - High Pitched Noise when Ignition is in ON position 16 Sep 2020 (Forum)
I noticed that there is a high pitched buzz /ringing when turning the ignition to the ON position - before starting the engine. The noise is also there when the engine is running. It's not loud - you only really notice when on tickover. I never noticed it during the test drive... Anyone else with a Mitsubishi Colt who could let me know if theirs is the same?

I've tried alcohol (pure 96), glass cleaner, vinegar and rolled up newspaper, autoglym glass cleaner, all to no avail and I'm running out of ideas. I've heard a clay bar might help, but not sure how to use, I'm tempted to try hydrochloric acid wash, as I have some. Any ideas most welcome!
