Kia rio 2010/60 reg - Elderly friend stopping driving. Sell? 14 Aug 2020 (Forum)
So, my 90 year old mate had a fall in the garden, not hurt badly, but intimations of a stroke, so Docs suggested that stopping driving for a while might be a sensible option. He was considering if to keep it or not and then got his insurance quote for renewal. -
VW 2007 2.0 Golf GT TDI 140 BKD - Tensioner Stud 9 Mar 2020 (Forum)
I want to replace the cambelt/tensioner/water pump again in the summer myself so my question is, will the helicoil insert be ok when I remove the old tensioner stud, replace for a new one, and torque to VW recommendations? Many thanks. ?? -
SEAT Alhambra - Rear tyres worn on inside 15 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Car is a 2013 Mk2 Alhambra (7N). Just put two new tyres on the rear, swapped the old rear tyres to the front - but discovered the inner edge is excessively worn, 2-3mm on both tyres. So one tyre has been on for about 20K and is barely legal, the other has only been on for 10-11K and is on the way out. -
Nissan Leaf - Used Nissan Leaf Owners Advice 22 Nov 2019 (Forum)
Would ideally like to purchase a used model with some warranty left for peace of mind. Would appreciate advice as I would love to buy an EV for my next car, I have 2 small children (no push chairs needed), but like the idea of efficiency and saving costs. Many thanks -
Jeep Cherokee - Can I Soup Up the Power Steering? 11 Mar 2019 (Forum)
It's a 2015 Automatic Diesel so it's fairly new and has reasonable power steering but it just feels 20% heavier than my old Hyundai (IX35) and my back seems to be responding badly to it. I'm really not enjoying the ride and wanted to explore my options before I sell it at a big loss. I want to keep the car as every other aspect is great but I can't do with the pain! -
Hyundai i20 - How to sell 30 Jan 2019 (Forum)
After a long wait, we have now got a date for the arrival of our new little KIA; we hadn’t organised a p/x at the time, which probably was a mistake; so will be looking to sell the existing Hyundai i20 which we have had from new but will be seven years old. Not really keen on the webuyanycar route; in the past one would just put the car on auto trader, but now there seem to be a bewildering number of options including facebook. I have done some internet searches and it seems that ebay (classified not auction) seems to provide the best value and response. -
Peugeot 307 SW - Aircon regas 22 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I should start by saying I'm not technical/mechanical at all! I have an old (but well maintained) 2004 Peugeot 307. I use the aircon all the time to cool in summer and demist, etc... in cooler months. I've noticed recently that it's no longer producing cold air. -
BMW M240i - BMW M240i for family 5 Jan 2018 (Forum)
We are a couple with 5 year old kid. Wanted to buy a nice driving roadster (mx-5/z4) for some time. However, just seen some reviews of M240i and the idea of a nice driving machine which can carry our kid also for some open top motoring looks attractive. -
Audi A6 Avant - Poor Previous Repair; Rippled UpTo 30% - Serious?? 16 Nov 2017 (Forum)
Hello Guys Going to a car auction tomorrow to buy a 3 yr old audi a6 avant. In the Appraisal report it says "Qtr Panel nsr; Poor Previous Repair; Rippled UpTo 30% & Bumper Front; Dented; With Paint Damage" Does this mean it has been in some sort of accident and i should steer clear of it especially the word ripples sound like the possible crash sent ripples through the body or does it mean the paint job has ripples? -
Skoda Octavia - Turbo or hybrid... which is the greater gamble? 15 Oct 2017 (Forum)
Struggling to decide between new (well, probably year-old) car options, so I'm hoping for some (educated) opinions. Any thoughts on whether either of these is a safer bet than the other? a) Skoda TSI... with a turbo that could spell trouble at some point (would have the remainder of a 3 year warranty) or b) Toyota hybrid... with battery, CVT and fancy hybrid system that could spell trouble at some point (would have the remainder of a 5 year warranty - extensible to 8 years on the battery if serviced by Toyota). -
BMW 3 Series Compact - Battery Starter Packs 4 Aug 2017 (Forum)
My car battery, still under warranty, in an old 3 Series BMW seems to be playing up. Tested by the supplier (it is a Varta brand) it usually shows as "battery good, needs charge" even after being charged fully (CTEK-MX5) a few days earlier. -
Advice re buying a secondhand crossover 1 Jun 2017 (Forum)
We're looking to purchase a 2 or 3 year old low mileage crossover vehicle. We'd love a Nissan Qashqai but they are out of our sub £9500 budget. We tend to keep our cars as long as possible and drive them into the ground, so value retention isn't important - in fact if they have lost a significant amount from new that would be ideal. -
Kia Rio 2005-11 - Rio 05-11 - 1.4 petrol or 1.5 diesel 1 Mar 2017 (Forum)
Looking for a cheap robust car to run for next 4 or so years. This era of rio seems a good bet. We previously had a very reliable picanto but a step up in power and size would be nice. Very simple question, our annual mileage will be circa 15k possibly more would you take the diesel (bearing in mind it will be around 8 years old with probably 60 to 70k on the clock) or play it safe with the thirstier but less prone to major issues petrol? -
Corsa - Possible faked service history, any rights? 27 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I can't find any trace of the garage online at the address given on the stamps, and the contact number looks iffy (it starts 0976... why on earth did I not see this at the time?) Anyhow, IF this service history was faked, would I have any rights? The car is low mileage and I do not doubt the mileage is genuine, rather, that the old owner never bothered having it serviced because it was doing such low miles. I bought it back in March from a trade seller, though so far have had no major issues -
Surprised by - Traffic around Leeds 13 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Was up in Leeds monday to go to a funeral and see an old friend at the same time. That is positively the most traffic I have seen outside of the M25 on a weekday afternoon. I was frequently in the wrong lane even with the satnav attempting to drive in utterly unfamiliar surroundings, but Guess what, On junctions people stopped to let me out/move over in traffic and when I stopped at a service station in Pontefract on the way back the guy on the desk had watched me extricating myself slowly from the car and asked me if i needed assistance. -

Q5/Q7 Audi - Am gonna bag me a knock-down cheap Q5/Q7, diesel. 24 Sep 2015 (Forum)
I suspect VW will be offering some quite attractive extended warranties/free 5 years servicing etc etc, basically whatever it takes to stop customers rejecting their cars as being "mis-sold". marcus -
Peugeot 107 3 Door Urban - Was mine the only crap one then? 11 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Drive train, gearbox and gearchange awful. Without doubt the worst car we've ever owned. Got rid after 6 months. Handled well and good seats etc but just badly made in the Czech Toyota, Peugeot, Citroen Factory. -
2005 3 Series 318Ci - Clutch Problem BMW 318Ci 4 Jun 2015 (Forum)
No noise, vibrations or slippage, and the pedal feels normal. 63,000 miles, 10 years old, mainly city driving. If it needs a new clutch unit, what's the labour time? -
