TuningBox for Diesels 21 Jun 2001 (Forum)
The car also feels much more tractable at low revs. There is no increase in engine noise or exhaust emissions. It is a little early to guage fuel consumption, but early impressions point towards a slight increase, but that is due to my new-found eagerness with my right foot! So I now have a two litre diesel car with nigh-on 130BHP and 330Nm of torque (It's the +60Nm torque that gives the car the performance boost) I just need better brakes now.......... -
Discovery 5 - Land Rover engine replacement 20 Feb 2024 (Forum)
Does this mean the engine has been replaced with a new one as I was told? There are other items mainly gaskets (turbocharge), pipes fuel-injection, O- Rings and water pump. I have asked for clarification but had no response as yet. Can any with more knowledge than me confirm this was in-fact a new engine? Thanks -
Mazda 3 - Young Driver's First Speeding Ticket 6 Dec 2023 (Forum)
How can I handle a speeding ticket I received as a young driver for going 76mph in a 55mph zone, which was later reduced to 65mph on the citation? I made a mistake, fueled by a tiring day at work and being frustrated by a car preventing me from passing. I complied and pulled over immediately when I saw the flashing lights, and I remained respectful and cooperative with the officer. -
2010 Audi TT TDI - 2010 Audi TT starts, then dies after 1 second, 6 Nov 2023 (Forum)
I've disconnected the battery for 10 min, no difference! I've used my spare key, no difference, exactly the same thing happens! It has fuel! I last used it 3 days ago! Theres a 1 inch gap by drivers window, no response from switch! The boot spoiler is raised, it never usually does that unless i am driving, at speed! -
Volvo XC90 - Xc90 d5 rough start and weird gurgling sound 25 Oct 2023 (Forum)
https://jmp.sh/s/0YoLtl5IQO2jNmj6xpXe Would love your thoughts as to whether this is normal. Or what it could be. New fuel filter fitted. Apparently injectors were tested with leak off test. I'm not convinced. Cheers -

Peugeot 107 - Strange one 27 Feb 2022 (Forum)
He changed the coil pack and plugs last year so I've sort of rulled them out and have suggested possibly a blocked fuel filter? Difficult to diagnosis a fault when I'm so far away but anyone ( Doc) got any thoughts? Just to be clear the cars running as normal now. -
Honest John car filter 24 Sep 2021 (Forum)
If you were able to filter through the database much like say autotrader with filters such as make / model / body/ fuel type / MPG / seats /transmission etc etc then it could spit out a selection of cars that suit your needs. I hope the people behind the Honest John get to see this. If it's already out there please let me know -
SEAT Ibiza - Returning a car to dealership - legal rights 14 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Hello, Recently I bought a Seat Ibiza (2009) for my first car, in the first 10 days of driving, a fuel injector has gone. I’ve decided to completely return and refund the car which was bought from a family run garage. At first they said there is a 25p charge for every mile I have put on, and then it went up to 45p and now they’re trying 75p. -
Is 55 stil the optimum speed..? 31 Mar 2021 (Forum)
I’m sure some of you remember that driving at a constant 55mph was considered optimum efficiency, is this still the case with modern, fuel injected engines ( I’m talking about petrol cars) , or is there some new more efficient speed, or with computers in cars does this no longer apply, I also remember looking at the tailpipe after a longish run to see if it was a creamy brown colour indicating that the engine was running effectively, as I owned several BL cars, I couldn’t do this as they all seemed to burn a bit of oil, the only one I remember seeing this on was an alfasud I once had, other than that, I can’t remember another car I had that did it... -
Used MX5 vs CRZ vs Sirrocco for under £5k 3 Sep 2020 (Forum)
I checked the insurance on all the above cars and its fine where we live for all of us as I will be the main driver anyway and I'm mature ( haha ) I like the look of the 1.8 mark 3 mx5 but I've heard it can rust badly, the CRZ in a hybrid so I guess appropriate in this day and age and apparently very reliable, and finally the 1.4TSi scirocco which looks good and fuel efficent Ideas ? thanks a lot -
Car which ia small and powerful for around £5000 16 Mar 2020 (Forum)
I was wondering what the forum would choose to buy for approximately £5000 that is powerful and fast the lights when required. The car sits in a garage for most of the year and is not used on a regular basis so a fuel guzzler and high road tax aren't an issue. Somewhat reliable would be a bonus Prefer an Auto as the gear shifts are faster but fine with a manual Short list so far -Mazda 3 MPS -Seat Leon FR-but apparently the DSG tends to go "limp" sometimes for a second while starting off. -

Corsa D 1.3 ecoflex - Engine issue 11 Feb 2019 (Forum)
It turns into a more rough noise and when going up the revs there’s like a squeal noise, when this is happening it’s drinks the fuel.. once I turn the engine off the cooling fans will come on for around 5 minutes then power down, took it to a mechanic and he said it was the temperature control sensor and replaced it. That helped for maybe about a week but the noise returned. -

Vauxhall Astra J - astra issues 15 Jul 2018 (Forum)
Had water pump fail in Jan and took head gasket with it. Both replaced. Collected from garage, filled up with fuel, car refused to start and when it finally did the EML light illuminated and the car was hesitant under load. The garage have had it back and so far have replaced the crankshaft and cam shaft sensor, the vtv and pullies, car was till the same so they replaced a sensor in the gearbox and since then they car now refuses to start, it turns over. -
Honda CR-V - Whether to buy an older diesel SUV 9 Mar 2018 (Forum)
The issue I have is not knowing whether, with the new diesel MOT regs etc, I would just be wasting £5k as I would need to keep the car for 2-3 years. I think getting a petrol SUV would be too expensive on fuel for not only the trip but my daily commute of 40 miles. What do people think? Thanks
