That's still a steep increase on the car's 2014 sale price of  £14,875. The car is one of 100 offered for sale at Brightwells’ auction over the weekend of 23-24 June at the Classic & Sports Car Show at Bicester Heritage.
  • Audi scrappage to continue in 2018 21 Dec 2017 (News)

  • Race Retro to celebrate ground effect F1 cars 6 Oct 2017 (News)
    Gustave Eiffel of Parisian tower fame had a wind tunnel that Peugeot used to help shape its Grand Prix cars in the 1910s. But it was Colin Chapman of Team Lotus who fully realised the idea of a race car as an inverted wing, pressed to the track by the air that passed over its bodywork. Chapman’s landmark design was the Lotus 79, introduced early during the 1978 season.
  • BMW M635 CSI set for Berlin auction 28 Sep 2017 (News)
    More than 55 classic and sports cars are going under the hammer in Berlin, including a 1989 BMW M635 CSI. The car, which is estimated to fetch €40,000-€50,000, is part of Coys inaugural auction at Motorworld Classics in Berlin on 7 October.
  • Racing Ford Galaxie makes £471,900 at Revival sale 11 Sep 2017 (News)
    Rally and race cars proved popular. The Peter Riley/Tony Ambrose, 1961 Acropolis Rally Class Winner, ex-Rauno Aaltonen, 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk1 Works car sold for £236,700. While the ex-Alan Good/Doreen Good, 1935 Lagonda LG45 4½-Litre Monte Carlo Rally car sold for £371,100.
  • Award-winning Porsche 911 Turbo restoration set for Silverstone sale 8 Jun 2017 (News)
    The base car for the restoration was a neglected UK right-hand drive 1981 930 Turbo discovered in a Leeds garage. The 1980s supercar had been gathering dust for 15 years and required a full strip-down and nut-and-bolt restoration.

    It has a great history, including racing, which collectors love.’ The car’s first owner in May 1963 was Ivor Arbiter. Ivor owned Drum City and Sound City in London and was involved in 1960s music scene, designing the ‘drop T’ logo for The Beatles. The car changed owners a couple of times between 1965 and 1967, when it moved to its last owner Frank Riches.

    A host of famous motor sport faces helped get the second London Classic Car Show started yesterday, including rally legend Ari Vatanen (picture above, left) and Prodrive chairman Dave Richards (pictured above, right). Jenson Button, the 2009 Formula One World Champion, made an impressive entrance driving a McLaren F1 – the supercar that is being honoured at the show with a special display curated by its designer Gordon Murray.

    Two celebrity-owned cars stole the show at Classic Car Auctions’ sale on Saturday. A Range Rover owned by David Beckham and a Ford Mustang owned by actor Charles Dance both went for strong money at the auction on 5 December.
  • Honda Civic in record-breaking 100mpg real world run 8 Jul 2015 (News)
    That means that the entire fuel cost of the 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel car was just £459, with the Civic’s official 74.2mpg average mpg rating surpassed by more than 25 per cent. The rules of the record attempt stipulated that the two drivers had to be in the car for the entire journey, travelling around 380 miles and up to eight hours per day.
  • Ferrari Testarossas set to steal the show at Silverstone sale 11 May 2015 (News)
    The car was originally finished in Bianco, but was repainted early in its life in Giallo Fly Yellow. Its odometer reads 45,000 miles and with only two previous owners, this car is estimated at between £80,000 and £100,000.

  • 302-mile Mini van set to make £25k at auction 13 Mar 2015 (News)
    Bought for £400 by a Miss G Crumcott from Northern Ireland so that she could learn to drive, Miss Crumcott never passed her test and so the Mini was left in a garage for 30 years. BMC Mini dealer, Mr T. Turkington bought the car in 1997 and placed it in his showroom until 2006 before selling it onto another collector in Northamptonshire. With so few owners, it is no surprise the car has covered just 302 miles. Still wearing its seat protectors and rubber floor mats, plus original crossply Dunlop tyres and spare wheel, the car has been carefully stored.
  • The 'Beast of Turin' lives again 1 Dec 2014 (News)
    It’s great news for owner Duncan Pittaway, who has spent the past 12 years restoring the car, including rebuilding a seized engine. All Duncan needs to do now is drive it and he’ll be able to enjoy all 1384lb ft of torque. Back in 1911, the car was one of two built by Fiat for a land speed record attempt.
  • Vauxhalls set to dominate NEC classic motor show 13 Oct 2014 (News)
    ‘We also wanted to make a bigger statement about the importance of Vauxhall’s heritage - we’re Britain’s oldest surviving car company with a continuous manufacturing history for 111 years, so our display vehicles needed to support this message.’ Star billing in a year commemorating the centenary of the start of World War One is the D-Type staff car.
  • Olympian to tackle London to Brighton run 9 Oct 2014 (News)
    It’s one of 443 veterans taking part in the run. As is traditional, the event takes place on the first Sunday in November, with the first cars leaving at 7am. The event celebrates the original Emancipation Run, held on 14 November, 1896, which marked the Locomotives on the Highway Act. This landmark Act raised the speed limit for ‘light locomotives’ from 4mpg to 14mph and abolished the need for a man walking ahead of the cars waving a red flag.
