  HI I have an almost new celica 6 speed. The gear change is very notchy and quite difficult to change fromm 2nd to third gear. This is the same when cold or hot. The car has about 1000 miles on the clock. Do you think this will settle down or is it worth changing the gearbox oil to a fully synthetic oil to help smooth it out?

  Due to the current and our previous personal circumstances the car has only covered just over 2,000 miles in the last 2 years.  At the last service the oil was just like new so I decided not to have it or the filter changed.  It now is a slightly murky brown but still transparent. Should I have the oil and filter changed this year due to its age or could it last another year?

  Was wondering whether these engine de-mucking products which you add just prior to an oil change are worth while. I need to change engine oil and would like to give show care towards the engine generally anyway. Halfords have a few on offer for diesels. Any thoughts? thanks

  Question is, I've nagged her into agreeing to at least get an oil change with the proper spec stuff at a dealer or at least a decent local garage, but should she have it 'flushed' on account of the black sludge that used to be fresh oil long ago when she checks the dipstick?

  I have a two year old Jazz 1.4 VTEC. I did the annual service including oil and filter change the other day. Left it to drain for a while, changed filter etc and then refilled oil. Manual states 3.6l capacity, so I poured in 3 litres (based on markings on side of the bottle of Mobil 3000 oil) and dipped the oil, it was well above full.

  Hi, My car (1988 Audi 80, 1.8 carb) has developed a really annoying (and worrying) habit of showing me the low oil pressure light at higher engine revs (i.e. about 60mph+ in 5th). My first port of call was changing the sensor as it had begun to leak a bit of oil. No joy there. So I decided to go the whole hog and change the oil pump.

  Wait for it. £277 for an oil change and oil filter!!! I don't know if that includes VAT as I didn't hang around long enough to find out. Second thought is to buy the genuine MB oil and filter myself and then get a mobile mechanic to do the job.

  can anyone tell me if a 2000 zetec shares the same oil for the gearbox and the engine or are they seperate . its a manual gearbox and changing into1st and 2nd always feel stiff until the car warms up . any ideas cheers

  Just had second oil change after dealer put wrong oil in and did not fit the offered pattern oil filter ~gfe650 or blueprint adgo2136. Have used original part #93743595 Blueprint filter in box with o rings available if anyone interested, make me an offer will post ist class recorded so no silly offers.

  I have just changed gearbox oil in my yaris 1.0 (yr 2006). It's running fine except that in the morning, while idling, gearbox oil drips out of a tube, apparently an air valve/tube. As far as i know the oil is not in exess.

  Has anyone else experienced a fault on a VW, when you are driving and it displays the Oil warning light and stop!!! consult you workshop. It scares the living daylights out of me this, I last got the car serviced about 5,000 miles ago and obviously the oil and filter were changed. Does anyone think this is consistent with using up this amount of Oil in that mileage. ?????????????????

  The car ran faultlessly with smooth changes until fairly recently. It now lurches & jumps badly on gear selection. A bit alarming !  On older models I know you could do an oil change and clean out the filter on the auto box, but this model (BMW power plant) uses solenoids to shift the gears rather than pumped oil.

  I have a mk2 VW Golf 1300 petrol engine with hydraulic tappets that needs an oil change. What is the correct oil specification, is it 15W40 or 10W40? Also should it be part synthetic or fully synthetic? Is it worth buying GTX magnetec?

  Am going to start doing 6000mile oil changes on my 2.0 Legacy Saloon. Cant see where the oil filter is in the engine bay!! Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

  Where is it?? Oil change is due - Just had a quick look under the car and a feel around the engine but the oil filter isnt obvious. Im assuming ill need to remove the lower cover to get to the drain plug. Is the filter under there?

  What would cause oil in a diesel engine to thicken and become 'gel-like'? It hasn't happened to me but it has been suggested that it could. Engine is a 1.9 tdi VW unit with full service history and 2500 miles to go before next oil change.

  I was thinking of using an engine flush when i next change my oil (97 306 xtdt) is there a problem with over filling if the oil is already up to the max on the dipstick? or will the small volume of flushing oil make no difference?

  hi all,can someone help. ive got a rover 25 and its got a ticking noise,since i got a oil change there has been a constant ticking noise coming from the engine. what ive noticed is that the ticking noise is mainly noticable when in low gears,as i get to the high gears it basically fades. the car runs perfect with no loss of power and is used daily. could it have a tappet stuck?
