  Hi I need new front discs and pads all round on my 98 306 xsi (2.0 16v). I would like my braking performance to be better so what would anyone suggest I get? I drive normally - that is to say no track days, no particularly frequent late braking - just normal road use. Disc-wise I will go for the same plain ventilated design I have now, but what make?

  My speed was 70mph. I then noticed that the lorry appeared to be slowing dramatically although it showed no brake lights. It was stationary ! I had no time to brake.   the engine was leaking oil from every seal and gasket (blocked crankcase breather, or worn rings?), the front brake discs were badly scored, the brake pedal went almost to the floor, the throttle cable was almost seized, and the gearchange linkage was so worn that I never did find fifth. Also one tyre was down to the legal limit, and one a little way the wrong side of it.

  Interested in Volvo XC40 20/22 plate Some mention 'mild hybrid' non plug in which generates lecky through braking. Dont want a pure EV - long in tooth and feel uncomfortable from pure ICE as these extras surely add more to problems of servicing etc. Should I be worried.  It seems these mods are being forced onto us.

  My indie repaired \ cable brake which feeds the boot lock latch mechanism. He is very busy at the moment so cant get the car in to him. He said the break was in the wires that bend in the rubber boot. Any idea how to repair the break ?

  Seemed miffed that it cost them £693 to pass. Earwigging I found out that it needed 3 new tyres , all the brake linings front and rear replacing and a coil spring renewed. The kind gran type who ferries little kids about.

  I have been told that there may be two different types of rear wheel bearing for my car. Is this the case? Do I need to buy the brake disk as well or just the bearing, and does it come with the hub or just bearing that has to be pressed into the hub? Regards Pete

  The rear brake pads on my V50 need replacing. The handbrake also operates the rear disc. Would anyone please let me know the secret to replacing the pads? The handbrake is off but I cannot compress the cylinder to release the pads.

  How easy/hard is it to replace the rear wheel bearing on a 2007 Megane 1.5 DCi? I've been told by some that I need to replace brake disc etc and others that it's just the bearing itself that needs changed-anyone done this job before that can help me out?
