MINI Clubman - MOT minor defect 18 Jan 2020 (Forum)
The crack hasn't changed since and I've got limited time and money to get a new windscreen sorted before the MOT deadline. My question is if I put it in for MOT without replacing the screen will it be an automatic failure or would I just get another minor defect? -
Ford - Ford's dual-clutch woes 15 Oct 2019 (Forum)
https://www.autoblog.com/2019/07/11/ford-focus-fiesta-dual-clutch-automatic-problems-before-after-production/?ncid=edlinkusauto00000016 The link on that page to the Detroit Free Press can only be accessed if you have a VPN, I believe. Doesn't leave Ford in a good light. -
Toyota Aygo - Rolling Down Hill Even Though in Reverse Gear 19 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I was surprised to see the car continue to roll forward, even though reverse gear was selected. Obviously the handbrake wasn't applied. Is this normal (I have been driving automatics for too long)? -
advice on a car 15 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Hi, I need some advice on potential new car. I have a budget max 16k ideally 14k. Need a diesel doing 15-20k year, automatic max 70k mileage. 5 door, descent boot space hatchback/saloon. I think an Audi /Bmw would be my preference. My top choice is A5 hatchback 2012 onwards facelift 2.0 s line. I was thinking of alternatives eg bmw 3 Series. -
Sprinter 313 CDI - Speed Limiter 20 May 2018 (Forum)
Same uphill too. How does this type of limiter work? Is it some mechanical device within the gearbox? They're automatics too...dropping it down a few cogs makes the revs go almost to the limiter at 62 MPH but again the speed doesn't change (I thought it might have been a speed limiter that works on revs, but obviously not). -
Vauxhall Corsa D - Belt/Pulley Area Noise on BCA AA Report 5 Jul 2017 (Forum)
I'm interested in a 22,000 mile 2012 Corsa 1.4 Automatic - the car is at auction and the report mentions noise from the engine bay area and specifically "Belt/Pulley Area Noise." Is it possible to confirm what this is likely to be and the cost. Am I right in thinking a new auxilary belt should cure this? -

mercades sprinter - Anti-freeze change- DEF button? 22 Sep 2014 (Forum)
I wish to renew the anti-freeze in my 2001 sprinter before winter. The manual says: if it has an automatic climatisation system fitted......' (presume this means air-con) press the DEF button. As my vehicle does have air-con i presume it would have a DEF button, but cant find anyone who knows what this button looks like (or what it's for)- can anyone help please? -
Any - Most efficient RPM 5 Jun 2014 (Forum)
According to the manufacturer of my car my engine produces the highest torque figure between 1,600 and 1,800 PRM which equates to around 70 MPH in 7th gear (automatic). I generally drive between 60 and 70 on the motorway so the car tends to sit in the rev range where the torque output is in the 'sweet spot'. Question - is the car running at it's most efficient when the engine is producing maximum torque? -
Ford Mondeo - Engine slow to rev down 27 May 2014 (Forum)
Hi my 04 plate Ford Mondeo Ghia automatic is having having rev problems. It starts ok and revs up, but is very slow in allowing the revs to decrease. It would seem the throttle cable is sticking, but I've checked this by hand - working the linkage and the it does go back to the stops, but the revs take their time coming down to tick over. -

Nicest sub-5k, 50mpg diesel auto to drive? 3 Apr 2011 (Forum)
I love piloting my 20-odd-year-old Saab 900S automatic; but it loves filling-stations. So I'm looking for a used diesel auto that's not thirsty but is still a driver's car: you know what I mean. Top-speed not important but mid-range overtaking-urge is. -
2010 Seat Leon 1.4 TSI Sport - Windows open by themselves! 13 Dec 2010 (Forum)
It has been drizzling throughout the night so everything inside is now wet! Anyone heard of windows opening automatically? There is no "window open" button on my fob, so it cant be that. With more bad weather forecasted, the last thing I need is a brand new car open to the elements! Many thanks John
