  • Any (carbed) - Wee Startup Wear Dilemma 21 Feb 2018 (Forum)
Assuming this is true, and that severely cash strapped BL engineers thought that worthwhile, it seems turning it over a bit might be a good idea. I don't, however, know if the SD1 system had fuel shut-off, which would make a difference. I think most British SD1 had carbs (SU's. I rather miss SU's) so fuel shut-off might be difficult to arrange, but probably not impossible. Not a big deal, but one likes to be optimal.
  • Ford Mondeo Estate - Anybody had error codes P1263 + U0401:68-8A ? 10 Nov 2017 (Forum)
I have scanned with Forscan and get the above codes, I looked up the codes and get :- "P1263 Description A fault is detected by the fuel injector interface module in the secondary (rearward) fuel injector circuit” Can anybody explain that in simple language? I have contacted my main Ford dealer who said:-  " These DTC codes mean nothing to Ford dealers, code reader not compatible to FMC DTCs.
  • Jaguar XF - Fuel consumption 24 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Current trip reading is 42mpg & actual is 38mpg, this is measured on a brim to brim fill & divide gallons by miles driven, miles covered was 477 & 12.5gallons (=38mpg) to bring the tank to the brim. The car has so far been driven with restraint, to see how it slurps (or not) the fuel. Has any one else used this measurement as opposed to looking at the cars computer & taking the reading as being true? The car has done just under 7k miles & is good to drive, actual consumption was never expected to be as stated officially, but looking at "real world mpg" sites they all say expect 42mpg for equivalent usage.

  • How to fix my Mercedes-Benz 190E's fuelling? 17 Dec 2012 (Ask HJ)

  • Ford Focus 2 1.6 Petrol - Fault Code P0304 29 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Hopefully they won't just start changing parts - the coil pack next? I would add that the car has not been re-fueled for over a week, so bad/wrong fuel shouldn't be a problem.
  • Skoda Fabia (2000 - 2007) - 02 1.9TDi vibration & loss of power at certain rpm 26 Sep 2011 (Forum)
When the engine is warm, and I am driving (typically on the motorway) it starts to jitter, sometime with a loss of power, I can either accelerate pass the engine vibration or slow down and they seam to go away and then accellerate again. But it will come back when it has done it once. I have tried better fuel, and the fuel "cleaners" / fuel additaves from Halfords it got a bit better. But it is still happening at least 2 - 3 times a week now, the garage seam confussed. When it behave like this the engine will sound rough at idel, if I stop it and start it within 5 minutes it will misbehave again.
  • Freelander 2 -2.2 2007 - Freelander 2 -2.2 2007 COLD START PROBLEM!! 28 Mar 2011 (Forum)

Does anyone know what could be causing this? or had a similar problem? I have changed the " temperature sensor" but nothing happed anyone know how can i solve this problem?
  • Volvo V70 D5 - Fuel metering problem 24 Dec 2010 (Forum)
It then gets progressively worse until the car is un driveable. On each occassion it has turned out to be the Bosch fuel metering valve that has gone faulty & usually ends up costing me £200 plus with diagnostics & labour. So far I have been through about 4 of these units & did manage to get one replaced under warantee because it was less than 12 months old although it took over 3 months for Bosch to agree that the item was faulty.
  • 2000 1.8 petrol focus - Will Redex and superunleaded improve mpg? 15 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I've always use supermarket unleaded but decided to try BP superunleaded. I also put in some redex fuel/additive injector cleaner. Its only been a few days but I've noticed the fuel gauge not moving down as fast compared to before. Its too early to tell whether the mpg has increased and whether the slow moving fuel gauge is just psychological.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02 2.0TDCi fuel problem 12 Jan 2010 (Forum)
problem started when glow plug light came on, it cut out but restarted, drove a few hundred yards then cut out and wouldnt re-start, took it to local electro deisels who diagnosedd, dirty fuel, they changed the filter and suggested i change it again two weeks later, now,, after about a week i only covered 60-70 mile. same thing happened, but would always restart, and drive for a while, so i changed the filter myself, now it starts fine , but as soon as you pull away the engine looses power and dies, restarts and ticks over fine, no smoke, cant get it into be looked at till next week , just wondering if theres any thing i could try,?
  • Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - 99 1.6 failing to start MK 1 10 Jan 2010 (Forum)
As I was driving the engine cut out and would not start, there were no problems prior. I have checked the fuel pump (ok) plugs are wet with fuel after turning over, TDC sensor has been changed fuel cut off switch changed. The coil pack is on top of the rocker cover and is the next thing I am looking at, there is a yellow spark (should it be blue) I?
  • Peugeot 405 Diesel (1988 - 1996) - Year unknown TD - Fuel starvation - won't idle 22 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The probelm seems to be far worse when the engine is completely cold. When priming you can hear the fuel flowing into the filter chamber. The filter was changed three days ago, and has made no difference. It is running on veg oil/diesel, mixed, but this problem has only recently occurred, after several months of veg oil use.
  • Renault Clio 1 Diesel (1991 - 1998) - 94 1.9 heater plug light 22 Oct 2009 (Forum)

  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 99 1.25 lack of power / drinking fuel 30 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Seems to take ages to build up any momentum and struggles to get over 70mph. Have to drive with foot on the floor to get speed up and it's drinking an outrageous amount of fuel. When at around 70mph on flat road revs are at approx 3.5k but engine sounds like it's revving much higher. Driving up hill is awful, takes forever to get anywhere New coil pack about 18 months ago but hasn't had a service since December '06.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 97 1.9D Turns over but fails to start 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Engine has been difficult to start recently but when it does everything runs fine and it will start and stop for the rest of the day but like most of us doesn't like mornings. I have proved fuel to injector pump and battery is fully charged, fuel is getting to cylinders as when it does start there is an environmentally damaging cloud out the back end initially. Engine is definately free to turn and will do on attempting to start - it sounds as if it wants to fire but won't.
